It is both a strategic and a tactical position that requires creative and pragmatic problem-solving.Counsel – Global Procurement at a GlanceKraft Heinz is currently hiring a Counsel – Global Procurement as a member of the Company’s legal team with a primary focus on Global Procurement contracting, compliance, and commercial matters. The team provides day-to-day support for a variety of the Company’s operational activities, including managing supply chain contracts and related commercial law matters, drafting and negotiating complex domestic and cross-border transaction agreements, and handling a wide array of policy matters and other commercial issues that arise from the day-to-day operations of a large, fast-paced multinational corporation. This role will provide legal services to promote and protect the best interests of the Company, as well as its integrity, reputation, assets, officers, and employees, while ensuring that the Company operates in compliance with all applicable laws in the relevant space.What’s on the Menu?
- Provide strategic advice, often in collaboration with other Legal team members, to key Procurement partners.
- Provide similar support to additional groups within Operations from time to time, such as contractual support to the Risk Management, Enablement, and Logistics teams.
- Serve as the primary Legal resource for certain day-to-day Global Procurement contracting matters and as a liaison between the Global and Business Zones teams.
- Apply experience, expertise, and judgment to Procurement and other commercial transaction matters, including day-to-day contract counseling; advise team members of potential risks in contractual areas and propose practical risk-mitigation strategies; provide creative and legally sound solutions to drive resolution of disputes with commercial business partners; think creatively.
- Draft, negotiate, and review commercial contracts, including products and services agreements, technology agreements, consulting agreements, sea freight agreements, confidentiality agreements and other business and legal documents.
- Identify legal training needs and requirements, particularly related to global contract matters.
- Assist in the development and delivery of training and online resources as well as with the identification of compliance gaps.
- Collaborate effectively with other functions and subject matter experts within the Global Legal, Internal Control, Audit teams on various projects or day to day business matters.
- Monitor legal trends and keep the Procurement function and the Global Legal Team aware of such legal trends and the impact to the business.

- JD Degree from an accredited law school and top academic credentials.
- Licensed to practice law in the U.S. and/or qualified in the UK.
- At least 7 years of relevant experience with commercial transactions, including preparation and review of supply contracts.
- Prior law firm experience and/or in-house experience.
- Excellent management, organizational and analytical skills and legal judgment with the capacity to make decisions and give advice that reflects an understanding of overall business objectives and the risks/rewards of each situation.
- Strong research and drafting skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a non-legal audience, both orally and in writing.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment that requires management of multiple projects simultaneously whilst also being a team player.
