At Imperial College Healthcare, we’re dedicated to delivering world-class healthcare through cutting-edge research, education, and training. We are now inviting a senior and skilled professional to join our renowned, IQIPS accredited echocardiography department.Work at the forefront of cardiac diagnostics, where you’ll handle a full spectrum of investigations, including 3D and strain analysis, paediatric TTE, cardio-oncology echo, and structural heart intervention TOE. With our large stress echocardiography program and physiologist-led valve clinics, you’ll have the chance to push boundaries in the field.The workload will be a combination of service development/management and clinical practice in echocardiography across our sites, with emphasis on our community satellites.   • Lead our community echocardiography service.
  • Perform highly specialised echocardiographic investigations for adults and children, including advanced techniques like Doppler imaging and strain rate analysis, and independently issue diagnostic reports.
  • Assess clinical needs and prioritise echocardiographic investigations to ensure timely, effective patient care.
  • Provide supervision, informal teaching, and training to trainees, registrars, and other staff, enhancing their technical and clinical understanding.
  • Assist in organising the department’s daily workload, maintaining quality standards, and supporting service innovation and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records of imaging, measurements, and diagnostic reports, and contribute to audit activities and clinical data analysis.
  • Ensure all echocardiography equipment is fully functional, safe, and used appropriately, adhering to infection control and health and safety standards.
  • Deliver a broad range of complex, specialised and non-routine scientific analyses for the investigation of cardiac diseases.
  • Lead and support the IQIPS Accreditation of the Echocardiography department.
  • Manages staff of service, including recruitment, allocation of workloads, quality of work, performance issues.

  • Qualified cardiac physiologist
  • BSE adult TTE accreditation or equivalent (ASE/EACVI).
  • Up-to-date local mandatory training

Desirable criteria

  • Higher academic qualification (MSc/MBA/PhD/doctoral study)
  • Registered clinical scientist with the HCPC

ExperienceEssential criteria

  • >5 years’ experience as a band 7 chief cardiac physiologist
  • Strong teaching/training background for individuals undergoing BSE accreditation

Desirable criteria

  • Previously employment as band 8a department lead
  • Lead on service improvement projects with demonstrable outcomes

Skills/Knowledge/ AbilitiesEssential criteria

  • Strong education/training skills. Regular presenter/lead for local/in-house meetings
  • Strong people-management skills

  • Presenter at regional or national meetings
