Offer Description

Laboratory Manager (f/m/d)

(Full-time salary E 13 TV-L)

Reference number 2023/258. The expected starting date is as soon as possible. The position is limited until 30/09/2024. In principle, the position can be divided into two half-time positions.

The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence in Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence Initiative and its follow-up program, the Excellence Strategy.

Currently, only around 33% of all plastic waste is recycled in Germany. The reason: there has been a lack of sustainable recycling methods for problematic plastic waste streams. Our transfer group at the University of Konstanz is developing new, radical approaches for recycling plastics. We are looking forward to having you as a member of our team for the transfer from a university project to a start-up business.

Your tasks

As laboratory manager, you are responsible for the smooth operation of the laboratory.

  • You will lead lab operations, projects, and people. In doing so, you enrich the team with your experience, skills and creative ideas, e.g., experimental design and planning.
  • You will provide managerial leadership to optimize the day-to-day running of the lab, creating an efficient and professional environment, and to continuously adapt the structures to the rapidly growing team and the increased throughput (scaling).
  • You communicate with external partners (develop partner/supplier relationships, etc.) within the scope of your area of responsibility.

Your profile

  • You have successfully completed a Master’s degree in the fields of (applied) chemistry, (chemical) process engineering, materials science or comparable courses of study.
  • Ideally, you already have professional experience in applied science either from industry or research institutions.
  • You are adept at communicating with colleagues and external partners.
  • You are highly efficient at organizing yourself, your tasks and your projects.
  • You possess a strong sense of responsibility and are not afraid to go the extra mile
  • You have good writing and speaking skills in both German and English

We offer

  • The opportunity to help develop radically new approaches to recycling plastics
  • To be part of an ambitious team within an innovative and dynamic start-up environment
  • State-of-the-art technical methodologies and equipment as well as a modern corporate culture
  • Expect a steep learning curve, both professionally and personally
  • Vast personal development opportunities in a fast-growing young company
  • Salary according to the collective agreement provisions of the TV-L (depending on personal requirements up to pay group E13)

We look forward to receiving your application with the usual documents by 15.10.2023 via our Online Application Portal .
