ISGlobal is accredited with the Severo Ochoa distinction, a seal of excellence of the Spanish Science Ministry.What We Are Looking forISGlobal is seeking a skilled, organized and motivated Bioinformatician to join the AIRLAB, led by the Climate and Health group. A broad interest in data science, statistics and natural sciences is essential. Candidates should be motivated by scientific research and proficient in dry lab work.About the positionThe AIRLAB, from the Climate and Health group at ISGlobal, led by ICREA Professor Xavier Rodó, invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher experienced in bioinformatics, to work on the EU-funded project PREPARE-TID (Pipeline for Rapid Diagnostics of Emergency Transboundary Infectious Diseases). One of the aims of PREPARE-TID is to develop and implement a pipeline for a rapid and simple analysis of sequencing data generated by nanopore technology and multiplex data. The selected candidate will develop analytical pipelines for big data, including sequencing data, transcriptomics data, epidemiological reports and air quality data.Training and experience /Qualifications
- A PhD in bioinformatics, data science, biostatistics or a closely related field from a reputable, ranked institution.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, and experience with high-performance computing or cloud platforms for data processing.
- Experience in managing and processing complex data and large datasets using bioinformatics tools.
- Experience in next-generation sequencing analysis is a plus.
- Strong background in statistics, with the ability to conduct appropriate statistical analyses, is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing, processing, and analysing large datasets, particularly those generated by sequencing technologies (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics).
- Developing pipelines for the analysis of sequencing data (including both short-read and long-read technologies) and creating offline databases.
- Conducting appropriate statistical analyses and data representation.
- Developing innovative ways to communicate complex, multilevel data to scientists, which may involve creating visualizations, writing reports, or developing interactive data exploration tools.

Conditions

- Salary Range: According to internal scales (Postdoctoral fellow, category C, equivalent to 31-32K€/yr).

1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person’s skills and CV.
2 – Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed any technical test could be pass. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.
