Job title:

Junior Research and Evaluation Officer

Company:

NSPCC

Job description

Child abuse is preventable if we all work together. This is our belief. It drives us. Our purpose is to work with communities to fight for every childhood.Together for Childhood (TfC) is the NSPCC’s place-based initiative, working with local communities to make them safer for children. We work with local partners and families to prevent abuse, and tackle the problems that cause it, through systems change. Join the TFC team in Stoke on Trent as a Junior Research and Evaluation Officer, and support our meaningful research, evaluation and learning work.Do you have the skills to support excellent research and evaluation work? We’re looking for an early career researcher to support research and evaluation projects that assess how TfC is working for children and families in Stoke, and around the UK. Working with the Research and Evaluation Officer in Stoke, this role is an excellent development opportunity for someone at the start of their research career. This role will be a great fit for a candidate with some background in qualitative and quantitative methodologies and their application in community settings, including with children and minoritised groups. We are looking for someone who is committed to collaborative, inclusive and participatory practice. As part of the research team, you will also be supported to develop in relation to our compassionate and relationship-centred ways of working.Join us and you’ll become part of a team that cares about the work they do and the people they work with. You’ll discover opportunities to grow, along with challenges and a shared purpose that’ll bring the best out in you. And you’ll get to find your own way to make a difference that means more, and that impacts millions of young lives.Additional considerations for the roleThe post is full-time and permanent but part-time/flexible/hybrid working will be considered. The role is based in our Stoke on Trent Together for Childhood site. But travel to the NSPCC’s London office is also an important part of the role.

We expect to be interviewing in early August. The interview process will have two stages to ensure recruitment panel representation from diverse NSPCC perspectives, and will cover both a competency-based and value-based interview. Competency-based interview questions will be shared in advance, in line with the NSPCC’s inclusive recruitment approach. Please NoteThe NSPCC places significant value on the lived experience that employees and volunteers might bring to the organisation and recognises the knowledge and skills that this may contribute in support of our mission to safeguard and protect children. As an organisation we are on a path to becoming more trauma-informed and one aspect of this includes acknowledging the impact that this work may have on our people. In recognition of this, we have an employee and volunteer assistance programme that offers support to all our staff.Sometimes people would like to work for the NSPCC because they have experienced abuse and neglect or have seen the impact of abuse or neglect on a friend or family member. We want to make you aware that if you share anything in your application that makes us worried about the safety and wellbeing of a child or yourself, we might have to ask some more questions for clarity. We may get in touch with you about this to ask these questions, but if we do, this will be separate from any contact about the job role. Depending on the outcome of our discussion, we may have to pass on this information on to our managers and the NSPCC Helpline. Anything shared with us is separate to the recruitment process.
