Job summaryApplications are invited for these fixed term 12-month appointments suitable for committed enthusiastic individuals wishing to gain experience and pursue a career in Dermatology. The posts will commence on 5th February 2025. These posts provide an exciting opportunity to be immersed in General Dermatology and gain exposure to subspecialty dermatology through both in-patient and out-patient work. You will be fully supported by a team of dermatologists in training as well as Consultant Dermatologists and the wider multi-disciplinary Dermatology teams.Main duties of the jobIts primary role is the delivery of excellence in clinical service, education and training, research and development in Dermatology. These functions are undertaken in both clinical and academic settings. On the academic side the Institute offers two postgraduate degrees in Dermatology and makes an important contribution to the Biomedical School as part of the Division of Genetics and Molecular Medicine, GKT School of Medicine, King’s College London.You must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a License to Practice. This means that some staff groups will increasingly be asked to work a more flexible shift pattern so that we can offer services in the evenings or at weekends.Job descriptionJob responsibilitiesThe post holder will contribute to the provision of medical dermatology services to the Guys & St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust as follows:

  • To contribute to the medical and dermatological management of patients within St. Johns, particularly patients in the dermatology day centre and inpatients, working as a member of the Medical team based in the Dermatology Day Centre at St Thomas Hospital.
  • To support general clinics.
  • To support specialist dermatology clinical services with particular responsibility to inflammatory skin disease and skin cancer services.
  • To contribute to the care of patients undergoing clinical trials.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of patients of the trust in such hospitals, health centres or clinics or other premises as required.
  • Continuing clinical responsibility for the patients in your charge, allowing for all proper delegation to, and training of, your staff.

All Trust Doctors are expected to contribute to the extensive teaching and training programme at St Johns.Specifically, this post encompasses

  • Responsibility shared with colleagues for the educational supervision of trainees attending the department.
  • Support for the postgraduate MSc course
