By using uCertify practice, learn and labs provided to you as part of your apprenticeship, you’ll be able to prepare yourselves for the following exams:

  • CompTIA A + (Exam 1 and 2)

  • CompTIA Cloud Essentials

  • We are recruiting on behalf of a Multi-Academy Company who is  s pecial education trust for special schools and specialist alternative provision. Reporting to the School Business Manager or a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on a daily basis for local IT issues. Collaborating closely with the outsourced IT provider to support the Business Manager/SLT in all IT activities within the school, in conjunction with the Trust Business Manager for Trust-wide IT matters.

    IT Apprentice Key Responsibilities:

  • To work both independently and as part of a team; competently demonstrating an ability to communicate both in writing and orally at all levels, using a range of tools and demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.

  • To demonstrate the necessary skills and behaviours to securely operate across all platforms and areas of responsibilities in line with internal MAT guidance and external legislation.

  • To effectively operate the remote infrastructure which includes a range of mobile devices and securely add them to a network in accordance with organisations policies and procedures.

  • To effectively record, analyse and communicate data at the appropriate level using the MAT standard tools and processes.

  • To apply structured techniques to common and non-routine problems for effective problem solving, test methodologies, troubleshoot and analyse problems by selecting the digitally appropriate tools and techniques and obtain the relevant logistical support as required.

  • To work flexibly and demonstrate the ability to work under pressure to progress allocated tasks in accordance with our internal reporting and quality systems.

  • To interpret and follow IT legislation to ensure secure and professional work within the Trust.

  • To optimise the performance of hardware, software and Network Systems and services in line with business requirements.

    IT Apprentice Knowledge and Skills

  • To have the ability to explain the correct processes associated with WEEE (the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive)

  • To understand and apply the basic elements and architecture of computer systems.

  • To understand where to apply the relevant numerical skills e.g. Binary.

  • To understand the relevant networking skills necessary to maintain a secure network.

  • To understand the similarities, differences and benefits of the current Operating Systems available.

  • To have the ability to operate remotely and how to deploy and securely integrate mobile devices.

  • To have a working knowledge of Cloud and Cloud Services.

  • To understand the importance of disaster recovery and how a disaster recovery plan works and their role within it.

  • To understand the similarities and differences between a range of coding and logic.

  • To have a working knowledge of a range of cabling and connectivity, various types of antenna, wireless systems and IT test equipment.

  • To understand maintenance processes and apply them in working practices.

  • To understand and apply the basic elements and architecture of computer systems.

    Additional Duties :

  • To safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people in the school by being familiar with and aware of the School’s Safeguarding and protection issues, procedures and guidelines and to adhere to them at all times.

  • To bring to the attention of a senior colleague any matter of concern over the wellbeing, safety or safeguarding of a person we support.

  • To be aware of your responsibilities in accordance with the current Health and Safety at Work Act.

  • To be aware of your responsibilities in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and be familiar with the content of the MAT Data Protection Policy, Acceptable use of ICT Policy, Password Policy and any other associated policies and procedures.

                  Working hours:

                   Full-Time working 38 hours per week

                   Monday 0800 – 1630

                   Tuesday to Friday 0800 – 1600

                   Salary:

                   NLW Apprenticeship Rate

     

    The training you’ll be provided with:

  • Comprehensive onboarding  

  • Level 3 Information Communications Technician apprenticeship standard

  • Training for all pathways of your IT career (support technician, network technician, digital communications technician)

  • Access to uCertify training platform; core learning materials, assessments, and practical hands-on-labs

  • e-learning training materials

  • Bi-weekly virtual classroom training on the CompTIA vendor qualifications  

  • Monthly work-based coaches visits and competency checks

  • Primary Goal Support desk for technical support

    You will also have the opportunity to network with a range of other apprentices on our programme who can share ideas, offer suggestions and support. Our apprentices love being able to help each other!

    As a Primary Goal apprentice you will also have access to our online portal that will provide you with information and technical guidance, as well as links to the helpdesk to speak to technicians who can give real-time advice and support.
