As a diverse College in the UK, we offer an exciting, innovative and stimulating work environment with a wide variety of employment opportunities and a culture focused on Fairness, Respect, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion & Engagement.For further information about the College, please visit our website.About the role:Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College are looking to recruit an outstanding IT Systems Engineer with significant experience in the administration, development and support of a multi-domain virtualised Windows environment.The IT Systems Engineer will be part of a support team which is responsible for all College IT systems and services. Reporting to the Senior Systems Manager, the post holder will undertake all such activities within the purview of the role; assist with the administration, support, and development of the IT infrastructure, including data centre technologies (servers, storage), network (LAN, WAN, WLAN), Cloud services and communications technologies.The IT Systems Engineer will work within a 2nd line capacity, supporting the 1st line engineer team taking ownership of incidents logged with the Service Desk and delivering comprehensive, timely and high-quality customer service.The Person:The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of administrating, developing and providing technical support within a complex multi-domain, multi-site Windows environment and a keen interest in Cloud technologies. An eye for detail with the ability to multi-task within an agile environment. A motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal skills is key as the role involves communication with staff, learners and external agencies.In addition to the above, you will have the following:
- Experience working within a medium to large multi-site organisation as part of a busy IT Service Desk
- Demonstrable experience in the administration of a virtualised Windows Server environment and all server roles and services
- Exceptional systems administration skills across the Microsoft technology stack, including Active Directory, Group Policy, Hyper-V clustering and virtualisation, System Centre and other native Microsoft services and applications
- Strong understanding of networking, being able to troubleshoot, configure and resolve network connectivity issues.
- Experience with installation and upgrade of server hardware, software and other data centre technologies
- Experience in administering Cloud services such as Google Workspace and/or MS Office 365
- Familiarity with MS management systems such as SCCM and Intune
- A sound understanding of information security and firewalls
- Experience with PowerShell scripting will be advantageous
