We are seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineer – End User Systems to join our team at Birkbeck, University of London.In this pivotal role, you will ensure the availability and optimisation of critical infrastructure systems, supporting the University’s teaching, research, and administrative functions.As an IT Infrastructure Engineer, you will have responsibility for:
- The design, development, administration and support of complex IT infrastructure systems, including Linux and Windows virtual server administration
- Server host and storage management
- Messaging and associated services, Active Directory and Azure AD within an M365 environment, Cloud services (AWS), scripting and automations
- System security and 3rd line troubleshooting across all the associated infrastructure used by all staff and students at the University
- Collaborate with IT Services to resolve escalated issues and improve team efficiency.
The ideal IT Infrastructure Engineer, will have:
- Extensive experience with Windows 11 desktop configurations and VMWare technologies
- Strong understanding of Windows security standards and Active Directory
- Proficiency in scripting and automation tools like PowerShell
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and a customer-focused approach
- Experience in training and mentoring junior staff.
You will report to the Infrastructure Manager as well as indirectly to the Infrastructure Architect.
