JOB SUMMARY:

As a member of the infrastructure team, the role is to provide specialist help to ensure appropriate support, maintenance, development and security of Simpleview’s ICT infrastructure. The role involves responsibly and reliably maintaining Simpleview’s ICT infrastructure by providing proactive support to Simpleview’s staff in areas such as connectivity, hardware and software support. Also, support for the Linux and Windows servers environment is provided by the Infrastructure team to support the business needs. To support the Service Desk in providing support for enquiries from clients in relation to Simpleview’s e-tourism solution.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Staff Support

  • To provide a proactive support service to all Simpleview’s employees across the organisation. Use a range of software tools to monitor the capability, functionality and performance of services within your remit.

    Troubleshooting and maintenance

  • Ensure systems and services under your remit meet the evolving needs of Simpleview’s by providing advice, assistance and guidance associated with the planning, procurement, provision, delivery, management, maintenance and effective use of these systems and services.

  • Formally record all operational and technical issues for review and analysis. Inform the Infrastructure Manager of any issue that could generate an operational risk or degraded IT service, and agree on its priority. Investigate and co-ordinate the resolution of issues or problems for the services within your remit. The role will involve liaising with vendors escalate support calls and may result in changes that need to be made   outside of office hours.

    Internal server management

  • In consultation with the Infrastructure Manager, ensure systems and services are covered by an agreed business continuity procedure and conform to Simpleview’s Security policy. This includes ensuring that backup systems and rotation policies are in place to protect all data held across the Simpleview’s network.

    Procurement, inventory and asset management

  • Responsible for both hardware and software asset management across the organisation including dealing with vendors, deploying software and contributing to licencing audits.

  • Ensure that all network and server configurations are well documented, up-to-date and reflect the current status of the equipment.

    Network Security

  • To implement and monitor network security. This involves ensuring user accounts are secure, reviewing and evaluating system software updates and effective antivirus protection being in place.

    DNS, network, hosting, IIS and IP fundamentals

  • Every effort should be made to ensure maximum up-time of Simpleview’s systems. This involves proactively monitoring the systems, software and applications including Windows Active Directory, IIS, SQL server, DHCP, DNS Windows Software Update Server and VMware ESXi. The role will involve supporting desktops, servers, connectivity, printers, telephone systems, wireless and wired network equipment. Contribute to audits of existing and planned technology systems, operational processes and procedures.

  • To work on dedicated projects across the organisation to deliver improvements alongside the Infrastructure Manager and other members of staff across the organisation.

  • To provide a point of contact for customers to manage client domain registrations and DNS management in order to bring them under Simpleview’s control. This will involve liaising with the Support Team, clients and domain registrars.

    Industry awareness and professional development

  • To evaluate new technologies and monitor the market to gain knowledge and understanding of emerging technologies and products within your area of expertise in relation to present and future requirements. Involves producing proposals to management to meet the needs of the organisation.

  • Take responsibility for continuing own professional development.

    External server management

  • To provide support and assistance to the Infrastructure Manager to support the service level agreements in place with customers.
