The IT area of Core Bank NL is responsible for creating, maintaining, and improving our reliable Account Management System (AMS) of the bank, used for current-accounts, savings, and loans accounts. We call it the beating heart of the bank: it processes millions of transactions a day on our Current-accounts, Savings and Loans accounts. High availability and performance are the critical success factor in our delivery. An important goal is realizing a real-time bank which is 24/7 available for all our customers.We are looking for an energetic, passionate and hands on “IT chapter lead (ITCL) – Core Bank NL” with a strong IT background with expertise in managing back-end systems and (API) connections to consuming IT parties.All with the objective to make sure we keep our AMS compliant, reliable and running smoothly. In the coming years, Profile being the target AMS has a challenging roadmap ahead for it’s platform, including epics such as improve scalability, reliability, security standards & align on standardized approaches/practices with other ING countries running Profile (hosted from HUBS RO). You bring in your technical expertise and vision and help influence the decisions made by the IT area lead about platform & technology choices. You will focus on all areas spread across people, process, tooling & technology.The TeamAs a member of the ING CoreBank NL department, you’ll be working on some of the most pressing technological and business challenges that face the financial industry today.In our IT area, which includes Profile, our AMS/ Accounts Engine, we are responsible for processing millions of transactions a day on our customers’ current accounts, savings, and loans. With over 8 million customers, we hold the records for their balances, accounts, and transaction history.   • As the ITCL you get energy & satisfaction in coaching 8-10 engineers with different backgrounds working across various squads. As a squad member, you contribute towards the squad’s purpose with your engineering capabilities. As an expert, you share your knowledge and set standards for the department.
  • As part of the leadership team, you actively pick up overarching challenges from Way of working, Risk, finance, HR, KPIs etc. and tackle them together with other ITCLs, POs & Feature engineers. You are a true ambassador of the ING culture, and you live and act by Orange code.

Roles and Responsibility

  • As the ITCL you get energy & satisfaction in coaching 8-10 engineers with different backgrounds working across various squads.
  • As a CL you have close alignment with the lead engineers / squads from the backend (Profile) & Middleware streams to assure that chosen IT solutions will fit the defined target architecture.
  • As part of the leadership team, you actively pick up overarching challenges from Way of working, Risk, finance, HR, KPIs etc. and tackle them together with other ITCLs, POs & Feature engineers.
  • You are accountable for incident and problem handling/security/risk for your assigned stream. Based on RCA, continuous improvement should be on top of mind.
  • Have strong analytical & judgement skills to recognize key information, identify problem, establish connections and validate before acting
  • Dare to challenge : keep one eye on the purpose & focus on value instead of tasks
  • Think in strategic priorities terms – based on professional expertise, be able to develop a long-term vision
  • Be curious, invest time to master your end-to-end product/stream processes and stay up to date on markets trends, risks and product information

How to succeed

  • You have a 24×7 mentality working in an environment with rotational standby shifts. As we are the beating heart of the bank, we have stringent availability requirements for our application, and this requires a “Non 9-5” mentality.
  • You have at least 2+ years of relevant work experience as a Lead engineer/Chapterlead preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Have a keen focus on automation and passionate about major trends in the way of working including, for example, Lean IT, continuous delivery, cloud processes, etc.
  • Experienced/comfortable in working with an Onsite/Offshore model.
  • Have a Bachelor/Master’s degree in Computer science or its equivalent.
  • You are Inspiring and passionate about creating and fostering a “safe and secure engineering culture.”
  • You have excellent planning skills to be able to plan the new work in relation to all the work at hand (within your stream)
  • Be curious, invest time to master your end-to-end stream processes and stay up to date on markets trends, risks, and product information.
  • You achieve the best results by empowering teams and giving them responsibility, while simultaneously “stimulating”, challenging, and keeping them sharp.
  • You stimulate & empower people to realise personal development.
  • You have the capacity to quickly learn and transfer new content.
  • You actively ask for help and feedback, but you also dare to give feedback.

  • Youn have knowledge of the business data, requirements, and processes of the tribes that you work in.
  • Very strong communication & presentation skills (telling – selling)
  • To be able to influence, challenge and convince not only peers but also the stakeholders.
  • To be capable to take decisions at tactical and/or strategic level and therefore build a trusted relationship with senior management level.
  • You are not only an engineer but also eager to take on overarching challenges within the domain and work with your peers in finding structural solutions to these challenges.
  • Strong people management and coaching skills
