Check out our available internships.Job descriptionThe Grid Development Department is responsible for scenario analysis, market analysis and the evaluation of the suitability of various energy sources. Our role is to investigate the future of energy systems in Belgium and Europe. To this extent, we have developed an investment model in ANTARES. However, we would like to see how this compares to PyPsa, an open library for system optimisation. The objective of the internship is to assess the potential gains in terms of process simplicity and computation time (speed) as well as the accuracy of the results.

• Explore the possibilities of multi-energy models built at Elia and see how PyPsa can help you optimise them.
• Then, compare the results, computation time and insights between the models and see how PyPsa can help you make the best decisions.

Your Profile

• We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with the following profile:
• You are working towards your master’s degree in engineering or computer science
• Knowledge in energy is a plus
• Past experience with data is a plus (data engineering, data science)
• Having experience with Python is a must
• You have an excellent command of English. You have a good grasp of Dutch and/or French.
• You possess good communication skills and can work in a team.
• You will be working remotely several days per week and feel comfortable with it.

OfferPeriod and duration:You can opt for an internship in the first (June-September) or second half of the year (September-December). The internship lasts at least twelve weeks and you will work between three and five days a week, depending on your availability.
