Responding to the needs of our growing business, alongside our desire to develop future talent, DAI is offering one internship position. The placement will be spent in Implementation department based in European business unit, and will be based in our office in Brussels, Belgium.

These internships will be full-time roles, starting in September 2024, for a duration of 12 months depending upon eligibility. The internship is in line with the Belgian legislation on “Convention d’Immersion Professionnelle – CIP” and in regard to this DAI offers a salary, commensurate with an internship role, of Euro 1,036 gross per month.

Main purpose of role is to provide administration and organisational support to projects and to contribute to cost effective and high-quality project implementation ensuring client satisfaction.

Key tasks, duties and responsibilities:

  • Support Project Managers and Project Directors in setting up project administrative systems, maintain document filing and other DAI systems.

  • Support Project Managers and Project Directors in day-to-day project management, monitoring and financial management.

  • Support Project Managers in identification, contracting and mobilisation of non-key experts.

  • Organise events (meetings, study visits, workshops etc.) including contributing to budgeting and monitoring of event budgets.

  • Perform desktop research on technical topics if requested by the Project Manager/Director e.g. to support drafting of project reports, terms of references and/or other technical documents.

  • Support Director of the Implementation Department in departmental level administrative tasks.

Qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or working towards a degree.

  • Demonstrated interest in international development, EU affairs and/or relevant technical fields.

  • Experience of interacting in an international/multi-cultural environment.

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal in English.

  • Numerate with a high level of attention to detail.

  • Advanced level of MS Office.

  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of development policies of EU and/or other major European donors.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in French.

  • Previous work experience, for example in a customer service and/or office environment or as a volunteer.

  • Experience in event organisation.
