School of Law and PoliticsThe School of Law and Politics is seeking to fill a post on its Student Services team, supporting the administration and providing direct support and answering student enquiries to students. This post will provide a professional administrative support to teaching and students in the School, providing particular support and guidance on student attendance, extenuating circumstances and academic appeals processes. The post-holder will need substantial experience of working in an administrative role, ideally within an education or Registry type role.This post is full-time (35 hours per week) and fixed term until 31st December 2025.Starting salary: £27,344 per annum (Grade 4), with annual increments up to £30,505 per annum (final salary at top of grade). Appointment will normally be made at the bottom of the scale.This role is eligible to be offered on a blended working basis, meaning that as well as spending time working on campus you can also choose to spend some time working from another location, e.g. your home.   • Provide detailed advice and guidance on student administrative processes and procedures (in the areas of attendance, extenuating circumstances, and academic appeals relating to LAWPL programmes) to internal and external customers (staff, students, or members of the public), using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action, and contributing to the solving of more complex issues.
  • Collaborate with others to make recommendations for developments of established processes and procedures.
  • Establish productive relationships with key individuals (University colleagues and external contacts) to help improve the level of service the team provides to its customers.
  • Perform a variety of administrative duties to support the team and department achieve its objectives, such as:
  • Co-ordinate student monitoring processes for LAWPL students.
  • Coordinate extenuating circumstances arrangements for LAWPL students.
  • Gather and analyse data so that informed decisions can be made, establishing basic trends and patterns in the data, and providing reports and recommendations for management.
  • Instruct and guide colleagues across the University and within LAWPL programmes, providing support as required.

4. Ability to gain specialist knowledge of administrative processes and regulations relating to student attendance, student cases, extenuating circumstances and academic appeals for LAWPL programmes.
5. Ability to communicate specialist and complex information effectively and professionally to a range of customers with varying levels of understanding.
6. Ability to advise and influence key stakeholders in your area of work.
7. Ability to explore customers’ needs and adapt the service you provide accordingly to ensure a quality service is delivered.
8. Ability to use your initiative and creativity to solve problems, respond to queries and make recommendations, identifying and proposing practical solutions.
