Job description
The ICR Facility (www.icr-facility.eu) supports governments, public agencies and private sector representative bodies in African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries to improve their business environment, so that everybody, especially women, can thrive as workers, entrepreneurs and investors. The project works under three different areas:
1.Demand-based assistance for business environment reform and Women´s Economic Empowerment (WEE)
2.Capacity development for Development Finance Institutions
3.Creation of knowledge sharing and learning
The project is jointly funded by the European Union (EU), the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), together with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the British Council. It is implemented by a team of experts from GIZ, the British Council, Expertise France, and Stichting Nederlandse Ontwikkelingsorganisatie (Netherlands Development Organisation, SNV), primarily based in Brussels.
We are looking for a curious, dynamic team player with an eye for detail to support our knowledge management and monitoring efforts. You will be working with the technical experts to collect and document the immediate and long-term results of our interventions and share lessons learned with partners across the ACP region.
Your tasks
During your internship you will gain insights into the daily operations of the team. You will get to know the tasks and processes of the Project Management Unit and work on various topics on your own initiative and under supervision. The exact professional profile will be determined against the background of the distribution of work in the team and the profile of the successful applicant. We welcome a certain degree of professional flexibility.
In detail, the position includes the following tasks:
- Supporting the communication and visibility activities of the ICR Facility, particularly on social media and on the website
- Assisting in the creation and design of compelling information and communication materials (e.g. publications, newsletters, flyers, etc.)
- Research and preparation of notes and recommendations on topics related to Business Environment Reform and Investment Climate, particularly existing GIZ projects and activities around the ACP
- Supporting our knowledge management effort
- Preparation, implementation and documentation of (online) meetings and workshops
- Supporting the planning, implementation and monitoring of planned and ongoing interventions, with a specific focus on BER and value-chains that have a strong impact on WEE
- Supporting specific monitoring & evaluation (M&E) activities of the ICR Facility, including the compilation, analysis, interpretation and reporting of results
- Supporting other day-to-day project’s activities as needed
Your profile
- You are about to finish your studies of economics, political or social sciences, ideally with a focus on development policy, or have completed them within the last six months. You already have initial experience in the field of development cooperation (internships and/or voluntary work) and/or in developing and emerging countries
- You have already dealt with concepts and strategies for sustainable and inclusive economic development, at best even with one of the core themes of the project such as private sector development, women´s economic empowerment, green economy etc.
- Strong communication skills with capabilities to engage external stakeholders. Ability to handle the accompanying administrative workload for organising and coordinating different events (in person as well as virtual)
- You have an affinity to social media, enjoy creative visual implementation and are interested in communicating results to various stakeholder groups
- In addition to your professional expertise, your strengths lie in your analytical thinking and organisational skills as well as in your high degree of flexibility and ability to work in a team
- You are fluent in English. German would be a valuable asset. French would be a particular asset
- Very good office skills (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)
Notes
Please be informed that you are only allowed to apply for this internship, if you are currently enrolled as a student or graduated not longer than six months ago from the start of your internship. Candidates must also hold a Belgian work permit, which in case of non-EU nationality must be uploaded when applying. GIZ will neither cover costs nor apply for work permits for internships.
We pay a monthly stipend of €1.350,- (gross). Please note that the contract will be concluded under Belgian law.
