Summary About the Position: Must be able to satisfy the requirements of the 26JUL12 DODI 1400.25 V1230, DoD Civilian Personnel Management System: Employment in Foreign Areas and Employee Return Rights. This position will be filled by one of the occupational series: 0401- Biologist 0801 – General Engineer 1301 – Physical Scientist 1320 – Chemist 1515 – Operations Research Analyst 1520 – Mathematician 1550- Computer Scientist Responsibilities Represent ERDC while serving and providing leadership at USEUCOM, working in the J8 and with other USEUCOM elements. Develop and provide briefings, information papers, and other products regarding ERDC mission, capabilities, and products. Coordinate with and inform appropriate ERDC and or USEUCOM organizational elements regarding capability gaps, needs, and projects, and provide advice and recommendations on the same. Represent ERDC at high level engagements and on USEUCOM committees, panels and integrated teams and provide input and insights on ERDC mission areas and programs. Perform technical reviews and provide feedback to ERDC to help shape and inform science and technology program development and delivery of improved capabilities. Participate as technical advisor in technical reviews on critical technology for new/improved systems and capabilities to include the study and analysis related to USEUCOM’s mission areas. Regularly communicate with the USACE liaison to USEUCOM to enhance situational awareness and coordination. Participate in ERDC liaison meetings via phone, submit weekly activity reports, and maintain at least weekly communications with the ERDC supervisor. Provide updates to the USACE North Atlantic Division and participate in updates as requested. Keep appraised of current and advanced technology changes through liaison with the scientific community, including government, industry, and academia. Will work closely with ERDC Executive Office, ERDC Laboratories, USEUCOM organizations, higher headquarters and other Services. Knowledge of Department of the Army and Department of Defense policies, organizations, functions, operations, missions and general staffing procedures. Position requires highly independent work and initiative with minimal direct supervision. The incumbent serves as the ERDC Liaison Officer (LNO) to the United States U.S. European Command (USEUCOM). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service DB-04 (GS-14).
