An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Intelligence Research Officer to join the Online Child Abuse Investigation Team (OCAIT).The successful applicant will conduct intelligence research into those suspected of committing internet enabled sexual crimes against children (such as sexual communication, grooming and incitement), as well as possession, making and distribution of indecent images of children (IIOC). The successful applicant will play a vital role in identifying child victims and will conduct research around indecent images to identify the children in those images, this will include use of the Child Abuse Image Database (CAID).The role will involve regular viewing of indecent images of children. Nationally accredited Grading of IIOC training will be provided.This is predominantly an intelligence research role, and therefore preparing for local Daily Management Meeting’s or producing Local Police Area intelligence briefings rarely be necessary.The location will be discussed with the successful applicant which is likely to be based at Abingdon Police Station, but there will be an option of some hybrid working as and when appropriate.As part of the Thames Valley Police family you will enjoy a fantastic range of benefits including 24 days annual leave per annum, pro-rata for part time (plus Bank Holidays), flexible working conditions, a wide range of lifestyle discounts, career development opportunities and have the option to join a local government pension scheme.
