PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Responsible for proactively developing and building sales, primarily through virtual channels, to existing and new OEM, MRO, and Distribution customers in France where regular face-to-face consultancy is not the only commercial way.
The Inside Sales Representative maintains and grows market share by providing frequent remote contact with target customers and prospects, delivering market and product information, and managing the quotation-to-order process. This role is expected to meet an established annual sales target and may occasionally conduct customer visits or face-to-face meetings on an exceptional, customer-driven basis when the representative has ownership of the account. The role also captures and qualifies leads for the field force when appropriate; similarly qualified leads may be handed over from field sales to Inside Sales.
MAIN RESPONSABILITIES
Sales generation and account management
-Proactively develop and grow sales to meet or exceed assigned annual targets.
-Manage assigned accounts using phone, Microsoft Teams, or other virtual communication tools.
-Drive renewals, repeat orders, upsell and cross-sell opportunities within the assigned customer base.
Lead handling and qualification
-Collect, qualify and record inbound and outbound leads.
-Route qualified leads to field sales when appropriate and accept qualified leads from field colleagues.
-Maintain CRM and ensure lead and opportunity records are accurate and up to date.
Quoting, negotiation and order follow-up
-Prepare and issue quotations using CRM, and relevant Timken business systems.
-Negotiate pricing and commercial terms within delegated authority.
-Follow up on outstanding quotations and convert quotes to orders; coordinate internally to ensure timely order fulfillment.
Customer communication and product support
-Provide customers with accurate product and market information.
-Anticipate customer needs and propose appropriate Timken products and services.
-Deliver virtual product demonstrations and technical walk-throughs; escalate complex technical enquiries to applications engineering or specialists.
Systems, reporting and market insight
-Use CRM, Power BI, ESR, NPR, and other Timken systems for quoting, reporting and account management.
-Maintain CRM hygiene and provide regular pipeline and forecast updates.
-Support market research and share customer/market feedback with product management and marketing.
Collaboration and handoffs
-Coordinate with applications engineering, operations, logistics and service teams to resolve customer issues and progress orders.
-Escalate large, complex or on-site projects to field sales, service, or key account managers.
-Work with internal stakeholders to obtain approvals for discounts, concessions, or special terms.
Compliance and professional conduct
-Apply company pricing, discount and contract policies.
-Ensure all customer interactions and documentation comply with Timken policies and legal requirements.
-Disclose GenAI or other assisted work to your manager per company GenAI policy when applicable.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
-Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a technical field, ideally with 2–4 years of commercial experience,
-Initial experience in an industrial environment — technical background preferred,
-General technical or mechanical aptitude such that products and general applications are understood and can be discussed with customers,
-Strong computer-based skills using CRM, Microsoft Office tools, Power BI and internet search engines,
-Good organizational skills and, strong target management, resource allocation, and long-term strategy skills
-Ability to maintain positive drive and attitude for each interaction with a customer,
-Excellent negotiation skills, time management, strong verbal / written communication,
-Team work; growth mindset,
-Solid English communication skills required.
OTHER INFORMATION
Type of contract : Permanent position (CDI) based on a 218 day annual working time package
Reporting location: Paris region (Bourg-la-Reine) historically – possible location in another TIMKEN Site in Europe.
Induction training (around 3 months) in France (Colmar office)
