The Organisation

The International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) is a policy and action research organisation promoting sustainable development and linking local priorities to global challenges. We are based in London and work on five continents with some of the world’s most vulnerable people to strengthen their voices in the decision-making arenas that affect them. With more than 150 members of staff working with associates and partners around the world, IIED has been at the forefront of evidence-based policymaking in sustainable development for over 50 years.

IIED hosts the Chair of the IPCC Jim Skea and his immediate support team. The IPCC Chair’s team is separate from the IPCC Engagement Task Team IIED has established, which is where the postholder will be based.

The postholder will bring a strong understanding and track record of engagement with the IPCC from their previous roles. They will appreciate the significance of IIED’s role as host organisation for the IPCC Chair and will help ensure that IIED is effective in supporting the Chair, and also in contributing to the wider success and impact of IPCC AR7 in line with IIED’s Manifesto for a Thriving World.
