Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Delivery:
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging and stimulating Science lessons across the curriculum, catering to Key Stage 3 (Years 7-8) and Key Stage 4 (Years 9-11) in line with the National Curriculum.
- Differentiate your teaching to meet the diverse needs of all learners, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
- Create a stimulating and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation, critical thinking, and a love of learning.
- Curriculum Development:
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the Science curriculum, ensuring it aligns with the school’s vision, national requirements, and the latest advancements in science education.
- Stay abreast of current trends and best practices in teaching Science, implementing innovative approaches to enhance student learning (e.g., technology integration, inquiry-based learning).
- Assessment and Evaluation:
- Design and implement effective assessment strategies to monitor student progress in scientific knowledge and skills, utilizing both formative and summative assessments.
- Analyze student data to identify areas of strength and areas for improvement, informing your teaching practice and ensuring that all students make progress.
- Take on additional responsibilities (TLR): Contribute to the leadership and management of the Science department by taking on a specific area of responsibility, such as leading on assessment, coordinating resources, or mentoring colleagues.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Science Teacher with a demonstrable track record of success in engaging students: Possess a recognized teaching qualification and demonstrate a successful track record of teaching Science at the secondary level, with a passion for inspiring and motivating students.
- Excellent subject knowledge across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and a passion for inspiring a love of Science in students of all abilities: Demonstrate a deep understanding of scientific concepts, theories, and practical applications. Share your passion for the subject and inspire students to explore the wonders of science.
- Leadership experience or potential for leading or coordinating a specific area within the Science curriculum or department (as per TLR responsibilities): Demonstrate a keen interest in taking on additional responsibilities and contributing to the leadership and management of the Science department.
