UNV’s Management Services hold the responsibility for the strategic planning, managerial leadership, oversight, and quality control of an integrated platform of operational services ensuring timely, effective and efficient delivery according to corporate performance standards and in compliance with the UN Regulations and Rules and UNDP´s accountability framework.
The Information and Communication Technology Section (ICTS) is responsible for the running operations of all ICT on-premises and cloud datacenters, cloud platforms and services, business applications, corporate websites, helpdesk, videoconferences, security services, hardware, software, network, and telecommunications services. This includes application system analysis, design, development and maintenance, local and global telecommunication networks, commercial hardware and software installation and operation (at both desktop and network levels), internet, and email. ICTS is also providing network and support services to other UN Agencies in UN Bonn Campus. ICTS is working in close collaboration with UNDP ITM department.
Under the supervision the Infrastructure Team Leader the incumbent contributes in planning and designing the ICT infrastructure components for corporate UNV requirements; and provides technical expertise in the design, implementation and oversight of initiatives driven by business needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Data Centers
- Plan, install and maintain ICT Hybrid infrastructure and ICT services.
- Administer Linux Infrastructure
- Administer Windows Infrastructure
- Administer Multiple Directory Services on site and in Azure-cloud services
- Maintain Public and Private DNS services
- Manage VMWare plus Hyper-V, in addition to cloud infrastructure
- Manage SAN/NAS storage infrastructure, and Backup infrastructure.
- Plan, implement and improve the on-prem Postfix/Linux messaging system
- Ensure data/media recoverability by implementing a consistent schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
- Prepare and update system administration documentation and server operations manuals.
- Analyze performance problems and implement solutions to enhance functionality, reliability and usability.
- Implement and maintain IT security systems, such as IPS, ATP, and multiple Checkpoint Firewalls
- Analyze critical infrastructure devices and systems for weaknesses, threats, vulnerabilities and controls.
- Administer and Maintain TLS and SSL certificates for all target systems within the Hybrid infrastructure
- Administer Identity and Access Management infrastructure
2. Network Infrastructure Administration
- Administer Cisco Infrastructure (wired + Wireless)
- Administer Meraki infrastructure (wired + Wireless)
- Plan, install and maintain firewalls, routers, switches, cabling system and patch panels.
- Design network architecture including, DMZ, ISP access, WAN, reverse-proxies and VLANs.
- Manage Virtual Private Network technology infrastructures, including site-to-site VPN, and User Remote Access VPN.
- Coordinate with Common Services Unit, telecommunication providers and ISPs to manage Internet connectivity and service.
- Update network diagrams and network operations manuals.
- Monitor IT infrastructure and services using Network Monitoring system in order to pro-actively troubleshoot system anomalies.
- Plan, install and maintain wireless network infrastructure for the LEU tower
- Plan the implementation of ICT disaster recovery and business continuity mechanisms.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
- Secondary Education, preferably with specialized certification in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- University degree is desirable, but it is not a requirement.
Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years (with high school diploma) or 4 years (with bachelor’s degree) of technical experience in IT infrastructure, system/network administration and user.
- Knowledge and experience of multi-platform server environment, Windows, Linux, Azure, AAD, B2C. Hybrid infrastructure.
- Experience in writing technical documents and providing tier3 support to helpdesk. Knowledge of ITIL model and processes is an advantage.
- Knowledge and experience of Cisco, Azure, SAN/NAS, Hypervisor, Apache/IIS, DNS, O365, Checkpoint Firewalls, RDBMS are necessary
- IT certifications are desirable.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Fluency in an additional UN language is desirable.
- Working knowledge of German is an advantage.
