Duties and responsibilities related to the Human Resources & Learning Officer role
· The HR & Learning Officer plays a key role in the hotel’s HR operations with a strong focus on learning and development. Key responsibilities include supporting the HR department in a generalist capacity, while driving and promoting a culture of continuous learning, growth, and development in alignment with Hyatt’s values.
· You will assist in the day-to-day operation of HR, including colleague engagement, relations, wellbeing, performance, and absence management.
· Quickly building rapport with our teams, you will provide advice and support across a variety of job functions.
· You will be involved in the recruitment of various roles at all levels and across multiple departments within the hotel and offices.
· Be responsible for HR & Learning related administration in relation to the colleague journey, including onboarding and orientation of new colleagues.
· Lead and take part in all colleague engagement activities, helping to create a positive and fun culture to promote team spirit and maintain colleague morale.
· Deliver the ‘Welcome to Hyatt ‘sessions for new starters, ensuring they receive an engaging introduction to the hotel and the Hyatt culture.
· Coordinate and deliver ongoing training sessions to enhance colleague skills, ensuring compliance with Hyatt Learning and other training programs.
· Monitor and ensure learning compliance across the hotel, including maintaining accurate records and ensuring that all training requirements are met.
· Manage and utilise all HR systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Taleo, Fourth, Hyatt Learning).
Working hours are generally Monday to Friday, office hours, although you may need to work some evenings and weekends and particularly attend colleague social events.
About you
· Ideally you will already be a HR & Learning Officer (within hospitality will be an advantage) or equivalent and have appropriate HR generalist practical operational knowledge of applying HR practices.
· You will have experience of and be comfortable to deliver short presentation/training sessions.
· It is essential you have a good working knowledge of UK employment legislation with experience of conducting interviews and managing employee relations.
· Able to prioritise and self-manage your workload, you will be organised and structured and will maintain consistent performance under pressure with an exceptional eye for detail.
· You will have previous experience of using software/systems within a Colleague’s Lifecycle – specific experience of Fourth and PeopleSoft would be advantageous.
· Good analytics experience with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially word and excel, is essential.
· Confidentiality is key, as is a positive and professional approach.
· You will be assertive, yet personable and approachable, with effective communication skills.
