Why this job matters

As an HR Professional, you will shape, create, and deliver projects and campaigns that connect our people with our purpose. You’ll partner closely with HRBPs across Corporate Units and Networks, providing operational support on a variety of function-specific tasks, some of which align with our annual cyclical people activities.

No day will be the same; you’ll manage a diverse portfolio and work with a range of stakeholders across HR and the broader business. You’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with HR Centres of Excellence like Reward, LLTD, and Recruitment to deliver creative and innovative solutions. This role offers a great platform to gain broad experience across the full HR discipline, helping you develop critical partnering skills for the future.

Your critical thinking skills will be crucial in designing and delivering forward-thinking people initiatives, while your ability to leverage data and analytics will be essential in your approach. You’ll do all this as part of a dynamic and supportive team with extensive HR expertise, dedicated to delivering exceptional results to stakeholders and fostering a culture of continuous learning and coaching.

What you’ll be doing

•Leveraging your HR Generalist background, you will work closely with HR business partners and our Centres of Excellence to develop tailored solutions to complex challenges. At BT, we believe our HR professionals should be more than just administrators and avoid working in silos.

•Managing projects critical to the delivery of the Networks and Corporate Units People Strategy is a key aspect of this role. This includes proactively balancing scope, schedule, interdependencies, budget, and risks where applicable, in areas such as organisational design, transformation, and change initiatives.

•In collaboration with HRBPs, you will support key function-specific programs and projects, including those focused on culture, learning, and talent development.

•Leading annual cyclical activities, such as the performance cycle and pay review process, will be an essential part of your responsibilities, requiring close collaboration with HRBPs.

•Opportunities to cross-pollinate ideas and build solutions across Networks and Corporate Units will be identified and pursued in partnership with other HR professionals.

•The role involves delivering and supporting people projects from the initial scoping phase through to post-implementation review.

•Engaging with the organisation and key stakeholders is vital to driving and fostering an inclusive culture.

Skills and experience

•Ability to effectively communicate and demonstrate how HR projects align the people strategy with the broader business strategy.

•Capable of drawing on experience to quickly establish trust and credibility among the HR community and key stakeholders.

•Developing technical HR knowledge, whether in a generalist or specialist capacity.

•Experience working with business leaders on the delivery and implementation of core HR processes and practices across the full employee lifecycle.

•Leads with confidence in a complex and matrixed environment, possessing strong business acumen and commercial awareness to understand the impact of decisions on deliverables.

•Takes accountability for owning and delivering outcomes. A self-starter who can work autonomously, navigate complexity, and confidently deliver on project and operational needs. A growth mindset is crucial for fostering greater collaboration across Networks and Corporate Units.

•Ability to balance conflicting requests and priorities while managing time and stakeholder expectations (both HR and business-related).

•Utilises strong analytical skills and intuition to analyse data and interpret business insights and trends. Employs data to support decision-making and develop effective solutions.
