Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist manages the day-to-day operations of the Human Resource office through administration of the human resources policies, procedures and programs. The HR Generalist carries out the responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruiting, departmental development, employee relations, training and development, benefits, compensation, organizational development and employment
Description of Essential Duties
-Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics such as leaves and compensation and resolve any issues that may arise.
-Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace
-Assist in development and implementation of HR policies
-Undertake tasks around performance management
-Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics, like time to hire and employee turnover rates
-Organize quarterly and annual employee performance reviews
-Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form
-Enhance job satisfaction by resolving issues promptly, applying new perks and benefits and organizing team building activities
-Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance.
-Assists operations supervisors in recruiting, interviewing, and selecting employees to fill vacant positions.
-Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
-Keeps records of benefits plan participation such as insurance and pension plan, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance review, terminations and employee statistics for government reporting.
-Advises supervisors in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
-Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedure and programs.
-Administers benefits programs such as life, health, dental, disability, vacation, leave of absence and employee assistance.
-Investigates accidents, prepares reports for insurance carrier and maintain OSHA logs.
-Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
-Prepare various reports for management review to include HR metrics, headcount reports, safety and environmental health, etc.
-Maintain necessary personnel documentation for employee files to include wages, performance reviews, disciplinary action, etc.
-Audit monthly billings for various vendors such as: health and welfare plans, pre-employment physicals, drug screens, background checks, etc.
-Assist in developing and conducting various training needs.
-Other duties assigned
Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements
-Understanding of general HR policies and procedures
-Good knowledge of employment/labor laws
-Knowledge of administrative tasks and responsibilities
-Outstanding knowledge of MSOffice; HRIS systems will be a plus
-Excellent verbal and written communication and people skills
-Aptitude in problem-solving
-Desire to work as a team with a results driven approach
-Relevant educational HR or Business Administration degree or equivalent professional experience
-Minimum of 2 years experience in HR
-Experience working in a shared services/customer-facing environment
-Experience in talent management, recruiting, onboarding, or employee relations processes (preferred)
-Friendly, energetic and accurate person with passion for HR and administration
-Prefer to work in a fast-paced, innovative, dynamic and technological organization
-Change: adapt easily to the situation or environment
-Assertive, daring to take ownership and able to work autonomously
-Proactive, self-starter with the desire to achieve
-Well-organized, flexible, ability to prioritize work
-Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
-Understanding, speaking, reading and writing in Dutch, English and French.
