HR Admin & Payroll Specialist – Germany (Based in Barcelona, Spain)

On behalf of a global organization operating within the life sciences and technology sector, our client is seeking an experienced Senior HR Admin & Payroll Specialist to support payroll and HR operations for Germany. This position is based in Barcelona, Spain, and does not include a relocation package.

The successful candidate will join an international HR Services team that supports thousands of employees across multiple European countries. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external payroll providers, this role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery while contributing to continuous process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and oversee the monthly payroll process for Germany in partnership with external payroll vendors, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full compliance with local legislation.

Prepare, review, and validate payroll inputs and outputs, including taxes, social security contributions, pensions, and insurance payments.

Act as a subject matter expert for German payroll, resolving complex payroll queries and supporting audits, compliance activities, and process improvement initiatives.

Key Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, or a related discipline, with typically 3+ years of experience in payroll or HR administration.

Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken; additional language skills are considered an advantage.
*

Strong knowledge of German payroll legislation, HR processes, data privacy requirements, and proficiency in payroll systems and Microsoft Office tools.
