Hosting offer: Looking for candidates for MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2024 Valorization and Fractionation of Agroressources, biomass and lignocellulose

Company:

Job description

The University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne is a multidisciplinary training and research university positioned and recognised nationally and internationally in the bioeconomy field.This academic identity at the heart of an interdisciplinary approach is based on 4 strategic excellence clusters and the specifics of its ecosystem:

  • a multidisciplinary cluster with an international dimension focused on agriscience, the environment, biotechnology and the bioeconomy (AEBB) taking into account, in a region with a strong agricultural and wine-growing economy, the sustainable production of the biomass, its transformation by green chemistry and biotechnologies, the ecological transition and climate change;
  • a healthcare cluster, championing scientific niches of excellence and rich and varied medical and paramedical training;
  • a digital and engineering sciences cluster (DES) focused on high-performance computing, industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, materials and technological change;
  • a humanities and social sciences cluster (HSS) united around transformation, transition and mutation

URCA’s ambition is clear : to be a key player on the European and international stage in the bioeconomy and the environmental field.Uncovering the mechanisms and tools shaped by Nature to improve the use of renewable carbon and to contribute to sustainable development: this is the ambition of FARE laboratory (Fractionation of AgroResources and Environment).Our mission, inside the network of our INRAE ( ) and URCA ( )partner labs, is focused on a main key point which is the enzymatic or microbial transformation of lignocellulosic plant biomass by biotechnological processes, to produce chemicals of interest for chemistry and energy, while respecting the green chemistry concepts (2G bioethanol, sugar-based surfactant, pigments, bioplastics…).RESEARCH/PROJECT DESCRIPTIONThe offer deals with the valorization of agricultural wastes and co-products for its conversion into molecules of interest (pigments and bioplastics) by fermentation processes. The project will explore the ability of setting up microbial co-cultures using an efficient lignocellulolytic microorgansims (prefentially fungi) and another microorganism which will benefit from the realse of sugars by the first microbial member and produce its molecules of interest (pigments, bioplastic). The use of monocultures can be also tested. The mechanisms underlying those co-culture will be studied by omics approaches.

Description of the offer:The Marie Curie fellow will be integrated in the laboratory and benefit from all the knowledge about the lignocellulose inside of it and will work among the team by , contributing to research projects, participating in supervision of Ph.D. and Master theses, presenting its research in international conferences and meetings.WHO CAN APPLY?
  • MSCA IF eligibility criteria:
  • A researcher can move to a country that is a member of the European Union or an associated country to conduct research for up to 24 months.
  • Before applying the researcher should have a PhD-Degree
  • The researcher cannot have been living or have had his/her main occupation in the country of the host institution (France) for more than 12 months within the last 3 years counting from the time of application. The researcher can come from anywhere in the world.
  • OFFER REQUIREMENTS
  • PhD in Microbiology, Biotechnology, omics,
  • Language: English (B2). Basic knowledge of French would be appreciated but not mandatory.
