The Unilever BNX business is one of the six key markets in Europe. The Home Care BNX portfolio has a unique and exciting brand set up (Robijn, Glorix, Coral) and a diverse mix of customer and consumer needs in the two markets.

Job purpose

The open function is the role of Key Account Manager Home Care for all customers in Belgium and will be supported by one assistant in Belgium and the Home Care sales team BNX.

Your role as KAM is to develop and deliver a win-win Customer strategy and Customer Business plan through the integration of the strategy of the customers and your category strategy. With the aim to achieve the Home Care profit targets & grow the turnover of key brands/segments of the category in Belgium.

As the sales lead of the Home Care BE team, you bring the voice & needs of the customers, channels and shoppers towards the different stakeholders and you are an active member of the Home Care BNX team.

You own the total BE agenda with all customers, lead the annual negotiation, whilst delivering on our journey in this competitive category on strategic projects.

This is the most wide and complete role as KAM in the Belgian sales community, with a strong and experienced BNX sales and category team, to support your successes. You will have one direct report. assisting you in your mission.

The role reports directly into the CBD BNX HC Lead based in NL and has frequent interaction with the sales leadership team and the BNX leadership team. Your entrepreneurial, agile, analytical, creative, commercial mindset and leadership skills will be key to transform the way we do business with our customers in a fast change retail environment, in a competitive and complex region.

What will your main responsibilities be?

  • Align and execute retail strategy together with sales BNX

  • Management of customer investments

  • Development and Execution of Channel Strategy

  • Manage and develop customer relationship: know the customer, network, negotiate and close the deal for all the customers you serve and, in all channels

  • Deal implementation and constant evaluation to further improve, adapt and course correct where necessary

  • Act as active ambassador of Unilever at the customer and of the customer at Unilever

  • Be the right hand/coordinator from sales perspective towards the business by leading the action plan to reach our targets

    Customer Strategy and Business Plan:

  • Develop the customer strategic business plan and work out a joint customer business plan

  • Deliver the customer strategic business plan, monitor and review the plan in line with the agreed targets

  • Develop optimal integrated promo plan and manage promo investments

  • Work in close collaboration with Home Care CSP BE and BNX for the category input

  • Manage the customer P&L

  • Provide clear objectives and deliverables for the field sales team

    Skills:

  • Bias for Action (can do and action/no debate mentality)

  • Accountability and Responsibility (performance driven leadership, high delivery standards, courage).

  • Able to work in cross functional teams. (Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Finance)

  • Strong consumer and customer focus / strong at customer understanding/contact

  • Good negotiator: able to influence, also in informal decision structures.

  • A person that easily connects, loves to embark on consulting assignments and has high energy levels.

  • People management, in charge of recruiting interns and coaching team member and peers

  • Project Management / strong analytical skills and well structured

  • External Orientation (look outside Unilever; be innovative) and Entrepreneurial drive.

    Experiences:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent by experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in FMCG in commercial roles

  • Former experience in key account management and/or business development

  • Former experience in category management

  • A very good knowledge of Dutch and English. Knowledge of French is an asset

    Location:

  • The Unilever Belgium office is located in Brussels (southwest). The applicant should be willing to regularly travel to the office in Rotterdam (business trip). Home Office can be granted for 2-3 days a week.
