Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Full-Time in the SunderlandTeaching Personnel is seeking an experienced and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a full-time position at an Ofsted-rated “Good” secondary school in Sunderland. The role is set to begin in January with the outlook to securing a permanent contract.Key Details:

  • Pay: £450 – £500 per week, based on experience and responsibilities.
  • Full-time: Monday to Friday.
  • Start Date: January or ASAP, with the role potentially lasting until the end of the academic year/Going permanent

Role Overview:As a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting both students and teachers by:

  • Delivering lessons and covering classes across a range of subjects in the absence of teachers, ensuring a smooth continuation of learning.
  • Providing one-on-one and small group support to students who may need additional help with their studies.
  • Assisting with lesson planning and resource preparation, working closely with teachers to ensure students’ learning needs are met.
  • Monitoring and assessing students’ progress, offering feedback, and adapting teaching methods to support their development.
  • Helping to manage classroom behaviour, ensuring a positive and conducive learning environment.
  • Supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) and working alongside the SEN department to provide tailored support when necessary.
  • Leading intervention sessions or extra-curricular activities to support students in achieving their learning goals.

This role requires a confident individual who can work independently, as well as part of a team, and has a strong understanding of classroom management and student engagement. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
