Band 6 Healthcare Scientist – Solid Cancer Genomics (maternity cover)The East Genomic Laboratory Hub at Cambridge University Hospitals is currently seeking a parental leave cover for a period of 12 months, for the position of Healthcare Scientist within our Cancer Genomic Service. We are looking for post-graduate or post-doctoral scientists with knowledge of genetics/genomics/molecular biology who wish to apply their skills within our Solid Cancer team.We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic scientists with excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic. You will work as part of a friendly and supportive team within this specialist clinical area. You will contribute to the service by the analysis and reporting of a range of diagnostic, predictive and screening genomic tests. There will be opportunity to support service development and R&D projects.This is an excellent opportunity for science graduates to gain experience of genomic diagnostics; expert training and support in specialist areas will be provided. The laboratory supports HCPC registration for those who are interested and eligible, through an organised framework which includes mentoring and funded access to formal training modules/masters degree.You can read more about us atwww.eastgenomics.nhs.ukMain duties of the job1. Analysis, interpretation and primary reporting of somatic, solid cancer genomic test results including NGS and WGS.2. Deliver and maintain a high-quality diagnostic service to regional oncology services3. Ensure the continuous improvement and development of laboratory services4.
