With the drive towards net-zero and energy security, as well as a need to reduce overall cost-to-serve, the UK energy industry is going through one of its largest periods of change.

The transition to renewable generation, grid balancing, upgrades to infrastructure, the installation of smart metering and the transition to mandatory half-hourly settlement for residential properties all fall within Siemens portfolio of services.

Not only do we have our HQ in Nottingham, we also have our exciting Project Delivery office in Rochester, Kent and this role will have responsibility over both – with trips to Rochester included as part of the role.

Who are we looking for?

Someone who is experienced operating at a senior level, building relationships that foster trust. We need this leader to transform our sales team, who predominantly deal with inbound opportunities, to spotting and creating sales i.e. we need more hunters. You will be leading a team of 18 account managers and sales professionals in what is a small and competitive market.

Success for this individual will be creating a proactive, customer centric, sales organisation that can double our revenues over the next 5 years in key growth areas.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

  • Consistent track record of Sales leadership in the utilities market

  • Demonstrable success in product introduction, market development, strategy implementation

  • Good knowledge of CRM applications and reporting

  • Good understanding of the utilities market segments and its drivers

Highlights of the role include:

  • To achieve profitable contract acquisition and retention targets in line with the strategic objectives

  • Presenting the Sales department status to wider UK management and Headquarters on a monthly basis.

  • Defining and ensuring implementation of the business sales strategy, policies and guidelines, in line with the overall business strategy.

  • Promoting the use of major opportunity win planning and large account planning to maximize success.

  • Collaborating with Strategy colleagues to define key market opportunities to support definition and identification of key customers / groups.

  • Assisting Strategy colleagues in gathering data for strategic market research and key customer surveys to identify respective strategic business opportunities.

  • Maintaining regular customer “temperature checks” to support annual NPS feedback and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Driving and monitoring performance of key market development / new product introduction programs.

  • Ensuring effective sales setup capitalizing synergies in collaboration within and across Siemens units (i.e. aligned setups, aligned processes, aligned incentive schemes, etc.)

  • Ensuring an effective sales organization and infrastructure to foster cooperation with other parts of the value chain (i.e. Marketing & Communication, Product Management, operational delivery, etc.)

  • Annually compiling and agreeing budgets and new business growth targets,

  • Promoting department career progression, talent management and succession planning.
