Where and how you can work

Canva’s office in Vienna is a key hub for our AI-powered features, which are used billions of times every year by people all over the world. And with that you will have choice in how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you’re nearby), at home or a bit of both, it’s up to you.

Fun fact – our Austrian team actually started out as Kaleido before being acquired by us in 2021. Kaleido’s product develops visual AI products, that make complex things simple for users. Now, together we deliver visual AI features within Canva to help reimagine how artificial intelligence can be used in design. We think it’s a perfect match.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that’s all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you’ll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

• Spearheading the strategic vision for remove.bg, the world’s leading AI photo background remover with more than 30M Monthly-Active-Users by crafting clear and ambitious goals across product, engineering, marketing, sales.
• Be responsible for remove.bg’s P&L, including revenue and user goals.
• Drive innovation and efficiency in product development, streamlining processes and prioritizing features that enhance user satisfaction and retention, leading our product to be the go-to solution for background removal and beyond.
• Champion a customer-centric approach, ensuring our product not only meets but exceeds user expectations, significantly boosting Monthly Active Users (MAUs) and cementing our market presence as the leading solution for automated photo editing.
• Foster a vibrant ‘startup within a startup’ culture, leading organizational development, encourage innovation, and maintain agility within the larger Canva ecosystem.
• Collaborate closely with Canva’s broader AI initiatives, strategically aligning remove.bg’s resources and efforts to maximize overall impact and success.

You’re probably a match if

• YOU are passionate about building and leading product and commercials teams towards achieving ambitious user and revenue goals, with a proven track record of strategic planning and execution in the tech or AI field.
• YOU can showcase a foundational understanding of Machine Learning concepts such as LLMs, Diffusion Models, and Generative AI.
• You come from a strong software or SaaS product management background, e.g. a startup founder, product owner or top-tier consulting role.
• YOU embody leadership that inspires, with a history of nurturing team growth, promoting a culture of collaboration and innovation, and driving teams to excel beyond their limits.
• YOU are a champion for the user, always putting their needs at the forefront of your decision-making process, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering exceptional product experiences.
• YOU are naturally inclined towards strategic thinking and execution, capable of seeing the bigger picture and aligning team efforts with broader company goals, especially in the context of scaling AI technologies within a global brand.
