We are looking for a candidate with previous management experience in a dynamic setting to join our team in a maternity cover position to support Fusion’s mission and strategy through leadership and effective operations. The successful candidate will engage with all areas of the Movement, playing a vital role in facilitating movement and improving processes.

This is a senior leader position within the organisation, reporting to the National Team Leader (England & Wales). The role is full-time, however we will consider flexible hours options if requested.

Position: Head of Operations (Maternity Cover)

Reports To: National Team Leader (England & Wales)

Location: Loughborough

Salary: £30,000-£40,000 depending on experience

Job purpose:

  1. To ensure Fusion finances are well managed and stewarded. Growing the sustainability of funding streams through collaboration with National Team Leader (England & Wales)
  2. To provide operational support to ensure Fusion is compliant with regulatory and legislative requirements.
  3. To provide leadership and oversight to enable the outworking of Fusion’s mission; including HR and planning to ensure Fusion remains effective, creative and impactful.

Key responsibilities:

Finance

  • Prepare and manage annual budget
  • Monthly financial reporting to Board of Trustees and area leaders
  • Management of partner relations process including tracking donations, claiming gift aid and associated payroll implications
  • Regular reporting to donors and Trust Funds

Governance

  • Develop, implement, and monitor day-to-day operational systems and processes
  • Oversee risk and issue management process
  • Prepare and distribute board agenda and minutes
  • Charity commission reporting

Leadership

  • Alongside wider leadership team, lead and motivate team to achieve sales and organisational objectives
  • Line management responsibilities
  • Strategic leadership of Student Linkup programme
  • Develop project plans for new resources and programmes
  • Grow funding through Trust Fund applications, giving campaigns and events

Communication

  • Oversight for production of Fusion communications and publicity (website and print)
  • Manage freelance designer, marketing agency and web development team
  • Oversee maintenance and development of website and database

HR

  • Recruiting, interviewing and hiring staff
  • Responsible for maintaining staff handbook, policy and procedures
  • To be a focal point for HR queries and support for the Fusion Team
  • To ensure that all HR policy documentation process is appropriately stored
  • Safeguarding lead

  • Project management qualification
  • A valid full driving licence

  • Experience fundraising including trust fund applications and major donors

This post is subject to an Occupational Requirement that the post holder is a committed active Christian under Part 1 of Schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010.

This post is fixed-term for 1-year. A suggested start date would be June/July 2024 to allow for a period of handover with the existing Head of Operations.
