As a Head of Laboratory, you will combine a strong pharma industry background with deep scientific expertise in preclinical formulation development and physicochemical characterization. In addition, you will be a creative driver of change, with experience in leadership roles within pharmaceutical Research and Development.
We are offering the exciting opportunity to join our team of highly innovative formulation scientists and physicochemical compound profilers as a Head of Laboratory within Drug Discovery Sciences, located in Biberach, Germany, the company’s largest Research & Development site.
Tasks & responsibilities
In your new role, you will lead a team focused on the development and manufacturing of formulations (new chemical entities) for preclinical studies to support research projects.
In international and interdisciplinary research project teams, you will represent all CMC related topics and actively contribute to the characterization and selection of clinical development candidates.
With your expertise, you will provide CMC specific scientific guidance to the team.
Furthermore, you will work in close collaboration with colleagues in CMC development functions to assure a seamless transfer of clinical candidates at the R&D interface.
The coordination and establishment of contacts to relevant academic groups and external partners to engage with new technologies and drive innovations in the field will be also a part of your responsibility.
Moreover, you will be accountable for the scientific and technological guidance of technicians, and scientists to ensure high-level education and personal development of the team.
In addition, you will develop and implement new strategies to continuously improve workflows and interfaces in international projects and initiatives.
Requirements
PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or related discipline with several years professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry
Several years of relevant experience in the area of preclinical formulation development and physicochemical characterization of new chemical entities/small molecules
Long-term professional experience in leading scientist and technicians within the pharmaceutical industry
Proven track record in scientific publications, excellent overview of scientific literature and already established scientific network
State of the art knowledge in developing pharmaceutical formulations for preclinical studies and analytical technologies e.g. particle size determination, electron microscopy
Teamplayer with strong communication skills
Excellent communication skills in German and English
