Work Location: Hybrid Shift: 1stWe are seeking a seasoned strategic Head of HR to lead our European HR function to support the Company’s mission to reimagine the future of medicine by delivering innovative cures that transform lives. uniQure has offices in Amsterdam (Netherlands), Basel (Switzerland) and Lexington, Massachusetts (USA).This pivotal position leads a regional HR team of three based in Amsterdam and is a core member of the HR Leadership Team at uniQure. This position will help shape global HR strategy and drive implementation of initiatives relating to performance management, culture and engagement, talent acquisition and planning, HR policy, learning and development and HR operations. Additionally, this role is a key business partner to senior leaders in the EU region.Key result areas (major duties, accountabilities and responsibilities)
- Develop and implement HR strategies in line with corporate goals
- Collaborate with leadership to drive organisation effectiveness
- Oversee and ensure regional HR compliance, policies and payroll
- Solid experience building, executing, measuring and pulling-through programs from the ground up
- Skilled at presenting to a variety of audiences
- Data-driven with proven ability to translate insights into strategic actions, especially as it relates to cultural initiatives
- Strong influencing skills to build trust with senior leaders and employees
- Skillful communicator with the ability to articulate how HR teams bring value to an organization and can quickly develop the business case for HR Team initiatives
- Profound knowledge and practical application of employment laws and regulations across EU
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and IT, to ensure compliance, optimize budgeting, and manage risk effectively
- Accountable for European HR budget planning, execution, and financial analysis, demonstrating strong competence in managing budgets effectively
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks beyond EU regulations, such as GDPR, SOX, and global employment standards
- Previous experience in a similar regional/international HR role is essential with a strong track record in leadership, operations and global business partnering
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in HR, Business or related field
- Strong understanding of Dutch and Swiss labor legislation
- Proficient in HRIS and data driven decision making
- Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Fluency in Dutch strongly preferred but not required
- Experience in a biotech, medical device or pharmaceutical setting is strongly preferred
- Certification in a personality assessment tool is a plus
- Experience in leading HR teams with a focus on scaling human resources operations and strategies
- Adaptable, flexible, and comfortable navigating a fast-paced and changing environment
- Strong collaborator with a hands-on mentality, actively engaging with teams to drive results and help support operational needs
- Strong ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural and global environment
