We are looking for a Corporate Project Vice President (CPVP) to lead Clinical Development and Project Leadership for our Rare Disease and Advanced Therapies area. This is an exciting opportunity to lead an area with a strong innovative pipeline in several high growth therapy areas including haemophilia and sickle cell disease. You will get an opportunity to lead highly dedicated, industry leading teams and collaborate with experienced, knowledgeable, and passionate stakeholders across the full value chain, engaging and influencing at executive and board level.
 

The position is based in Søborg, Greater Copenhagen area, Denmark. We welcome applications from candidates based in Denmark or are willing to relocate.

The position

The Corporate Project Vice President, Clinical Development & Project Leadership, Rare Diseases and Advanced Therapies is a role that has high visibility and drives high impact at Novo Nordisk. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Head of Clinical Drug Development and Project Leadership, the CPVP is a member of Clinical Drug Development Leadership Team, Global Rare Diseases Leadership team and Core Therapeutic Area Strategy Teams.
You will in these capacities be frequently working with and presenting to executive level governance. The CPVP leads interactions with Health Authorities, Key Opinion Leaders and is involved in business development.

The CPVP is responsible for setting the strategic direction for development in the relevant therapy areas, managing a portfolio of projects, and aligning it with the company’s R&D strategy. In this role, you will lead both Project Leadership and Medical & Science colleagues and work closely with all other development, commercial and product supply areas.

Driving innovation is among the key priorities for the role. You will be responsible for the development of innovative approaches to develop differentiated products, maximise commercial aspirations, address new regulatory requirements and ensure access to data that supports medical understanding of your product portfolio. You will bring an innovative approach to organisational development of your teams and will run process improvement and re-organisation projects.

You will lead an organisation of approximately 70 people. Coaching your direct reports, fostering talent development, building trust, and ensuring the development of your whole area is an important part of the role. You will enable knowledge sharing and collaboration across the teams and wider organisation.

Reflecting the global scope of your role, you will drive collaboration with stakeholders across the value chain including regional representatives. You will also contribute to search, evaluation, and due-diligence of business development opportunities, including strategic fit-evaluation, product development approach and organisational integration set-up.

Qualifications

We are looking for a Leader with the following qualifications and skills:

-Clinical and/or research background, MD, PhD, and MBA Degrees.
-Strong knowledge of the drug development and life cycle management process from direct participation in project teams through substantial parts of the product development life cycle.
-Experience leading product development in Rare Diseases or closely aligned therapy areas.
-Proven track record of line management and matrix leadership. Experience operating in large multi-functional and multi-national environment. Ability to coach and develop high performing teams. An inclusive and collaborative leadership style.
-Significant experience with multinational pharma organisation(s) coupled with a track record working on international assignments or in major global markets.
-An executive with strong organisational leadership toolbox, including business planning, ability to navigate complex matrix environment, manage conflicting priorities and operate in quickly changing environment.
-Excellent communication and presentation skills coupled with ability to make yourself understood by different audiences.
