Fraunhofer EMFT conducts cutting-edge applied research on sensors and actuators for people and the environment. The over hundred employees in the three locations in Munich, Oberpfaffenhofen and Regensburg possess impressive long-term experience and wide-ranging know-how in the fields of microelectronics and microsystem technology. Electronic systems should become extremely thin and flexible in the future. The development of these so-called “flexible hybrid electronics” requires a broad spectrum of scientific competencies and new technologies. Fraunhofer EMFT has set itself the goal of integrating silicon-based electronic components into film substrates using roll-to-roll processing techniques.

Are you passionate about flexible and printed technologies for hybrid electronics? Do you have experience in various processing techniques on flexible foils especially on reel-to-reel lines? Then you are exactly right with us in the team of the department “Flexible Systems” at Fraunhofer EMFT.

What you will do

  • You act as a head of department “Flexible Systems” bearing technical and disciplinary supervision responsibilities in a tandem setting.
  • You are responsible for the acquisition and management of research and development projects, both publicly funded and industrial ones.
  • You provide impetus for the strategic development of the department, drive innovation and open up new fields of application.

What you bring to the table

  • Completed academic studies in electrical engineering / information technology, physics, chemistry or similar fields, preferably with a Ph.D.
  • Relevant professional experience in the acquisition of R&D and industrial projects on the national and international level.
  • Experience in leading R&D teams in either academia, large industry or startups.
  • Scientific expertise in the fields of flexible electronics, hybrid integration or electronic packaging.
  • Experience working and/or studying abroad.
  • A large R&D and/or industrial network.

In addition, the following skills complete your profile:

  • Excellent command of English; German is a plus.
  • High level of independence, personal responsibility and customer orientation.
  • A structured way of working and teamwork.
