The GOPA PACE teams are a group of highly driven professionals dedicated to achieving the greatest impact through our projects across geographies.A JOB THAT INSPIRES YOUAs Head of Accounting, you are operating and dealing with all accounting and administrative tasks related to the local and Group Accounting and Reporting obligations. You deal with all the accounting activities related to projects accounting, general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll accounting, quarterly and year-end closing and reporting.
You will work in a team with 2 accountants and in close relation with the Project Teams, the Implementation Support Team, the Controlling Team and report to the Finance Director.
You closely follow the regulations regarding accounting and reporting.
You monitor legal changes and take necessary steps to adjust internal procedures.
You make proposals to make the accounting processes more efficientKey responsibilitiesAs Head of Accounting, you take overall ownership of common responsibilities defined for accounting, being:Accounting / Reporting

• Responsible for all matters of accounting of the company
• Perform Quarterly accounting/reporting and analytical review
• Manage & review monthly DE-Gaap closing activities
• Prepare statutory annual accounts in BE-Gaap
• Liaise with auditors & lead financial statements audit
• Actively participate in the IT Projects with regards to Finance matters in transition projects
• Demonstrate strong understanding of financial accounting systems
• Report issues/key transactions to Finance Director

Financial analysis

• Ensure proper, accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and yearly closure of project financials with the Project Managers, Controllers and ISU Project Administrators.
• Make sure necessary accruals are recorded and followed-up during quarterly closings with Controllers.
• Report any potential operational issues you identify and discuss them with the Controllers and Finance Director in a timely manner and propose effective solutions.

TAX and payroll

• Supervise VAT, Tax and all related declaration matters of the company
• Perform and reconcile Payroll accounting and related matters
• Be the HR manager counterpart for financial treatment of Payroll matters

Bank guarantees & corporate banks

• Be the liaison between the Project Managers and Corparate banks for all matters related to Pre-financing and Banks guarantees for projects

Compliance:

• Ensure Compliance requirements are met for all financial and accounting matters in relation with the Finance Director and the Compliance Officer.

Department Strategy

• Contribute together with the Finance Director to the strategic orientation of Finance Department.
• Prepare yearly business plan for operationalizing the accounting strategy.
• Representing Finance Director towards clients, other Group companies, partners and external service providers.

• You will define and promote effective accounting processes enabling accuracy, completeness, timeliness and appropriate valuation of reported financial data.
• Drive continuous improvement in processes
• Train & coach team member(s)

A BACKGROUND THAT CONVINCES USDesired competencies and experience

• Degree in Finance and/or Accounting.
• +5-10 years of relevant experience.
• Capacity to work with the Finance Director and Area Directors on strategic orientation of the business.
• Capacity for independent decision-making and taking initiative.

• Excellent communication skills in French and English, both verbal and written.
• Able to work in a team but also independently.
• Successful track record in controlling, accounting and Reporting and managing tight deadlines.
• Proven capacity in people management
• Computer skills MS Office (Excel Word Power Point), Internet, and database.
