Hardware and Firmware Engineer (m/f/d) in Remote, Italy

We’re looking for an Hardware-Software engineer (m/f/d) to help developing our devices and participating in the selection and design of electronic components with an eye to mass production and complex high power systems design, work with our young and talented team in Pisa and Saerbeck (Germany).

What role will you play in building a green hydrogen future?

• Select and validate sensors and other electronic components;

• Evaluate hardware, prototype validation for continuous improvement;

• Develop FW and be the point of contact between HW design and automation control;

• System design for EM compatibility optimization;

• Work as a part of an international team of Electronic and Electrical engineers;

• Work in conjunction with other team members to organize and complete various electronic and electrical design projects in order to optimize single and multi-core devices;

• Support the production, assembly and testing of electronic boards;

• Work as a team to help certify Enapter products in key customer regions;

• Cooperating in the implementation of complex automated systems, with particular focus on the software aspect, ranging from PLC programming, and other activities to support the Hydrogen production on site according with our safety concept.

What do you need to help make our goals a reality?

• First things first: Enthusiasm for the part green hydrogen will play in tomorrow’s world and Enapter’s role in it;

• Master’s degree in in Electronics or similar, with 3+ years of professional work experience;

• Experience as FW/Hardware Electronic Technician in manufacturing industry or renewable energy field is a plus;

• Expertise in FW development: Design, verification and validation of firmware in C/C++ for System based on Chip such as ESP32, STM32 or similar;

• Expertise on electronic circuits sensors and various types of I/O signals and related conditioning for communication with PLC or TTC controller;

• Expertise in Bus communication UART, RS-232/485, USB, SPI, I2C, Modbus, EtherNet/IP, Profinet, CAN, Profibus ecc;

• Knowledge of Controls Engineering/PLC/HMI programming/SafetyKnowledge of instruments such as logic and protocol analysers, oscilloscopes;

• Knowledge of PCB boards development in compliance with international safety design standards, experience with Altium is preferrable, other ECAD are a plus.

• Familiarity with computer networks, TCP/IP, VLan, VPN, ecc;

• Knowledge of electromagnetic compatibility and interference issues (EMC/EMI)

• Knowledge of Jira and Confluence is a plus.

• Strong skills in troubleshooting;

• Excellent English communication skills, Italian is a plus.

• Willing to travel occasionally.
