Our purpose is to make city breaks and workcations less apologetic, more purposeful and tuned to the self.About the JobOverall Job PurposeThe Groups, Conferences & Events Manager will be responsible for the achievement of financial targets related to groups, conferences and events as well group room revenue.Responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the GCE department and maximizing revenue by reviewing and revising revenue strategies and identifying trends.Coordinating the successful event planning, sales and overall execution of all Conference & Events that take place within the hotel.Will maximize revenue opportunities in the areas of group bookings, conferences and events by driving sales leads and increasing conversions.The role will interact frequently with customers and guests to learn about their needs and develop relationships to gain repeating and expanded business.Reaches personal sales goals and, together with the DOSM and Revenue Director, executes overall sales strategy of the hotel.The Groups, Conferences & Events Manager will be responsible for leading the GC&E team & manage direct reports (4-5 team members).Principal AccountabilitiesManaging Sales Activities:· Maximize all GC&E (Groups, Conferences, and Events) revenue opportunities by driving sales leads and increasing conversion.· Manage the department’s day-to-day operations and activities, through implementation of the selling strategy, yielding of the meeting & events spaces.· Develop and manage (in support of DOSM) event budgets, forecasts and financial reporting, ensuring profitability and cost control· Ensure the M&E (Meeting & Events) team members are developed effectively and generate a culture of high-quality standards for relationship building, customer service, selling techniques, and billing & processing contracts.· Manage and develop the GC&E Sales Team to ensure career progression and personal development within the hotel and company. Coaching and supporting the assistant GCE manager to help to achieve the next level in him/her career development· Conduct an effective recruitment process, with support of the HR department and/or DOS, to engage new GC&E Executive Sales Team members.· Ensure that all events are handed over to the Food & Beverage Operations Team every week in a timely manner! and that all the information is accurate, confirmed and billing details are documented and in line with the credit policy of the hotel.· Ensure compliance with all legal, health, and safety regulations related to events and conferences.

· Support the F&B operations and room reservations team with information as required.· Ensure all information is dispatched to the Chef and Operations Team in a timely manner to guarantee they can order and make a work schedule in the effective way.· Attend sales events, as required by the DOSM/sales team· Liaise with field Sales Team of the hotel to confirm their accounts / segments perform in line with expectations / set KPI’s of the hotel.· Put & keep the hotel as leader in the market through the development of future and repeat business.· Act as an “Ambassador” for the Cardo brand & hotel.Building Successful Relationships· Safeguard the highest standards of event management are in place, including building relationships with new/existing customers in order to secure returning business.· Build strong relationships with customers, guests and team members in order to gain full understanding of their needs and work to serve them effectively.· Meet & greet dedicated conference contact or organizer to check on their satisfaction, set-up of the meeting rooms… planning in general on the day of the event.· Sets a positive example for guest relationsKnowledge of Market Trends· Analyze competitors’ activities and pricing strategies.· Understand the overall market – competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand etc… and knows how to sell against them.· Understand the competitive marketplace and implement approaches to ensure the hotel stays ahead in the local market.· Using knowledge of market trends, tools (MICE VIEW, Cvent,…) and target customer information to maximize revenues.Additional Sales Involvement· Review business plans, identify gaps and ensure proactive efforts to fill capacity and meet set targets.· Contribute to the selling strategy of the hotel and manage the departments’ adherence to achieving that strategy.· Support the DOSM in reporting on incoming demand in the city & the hotel, on conversion ratios by using the available tools.
Implement an action plan to increase sales opportunities in the GC&E department.· Set up invoices for events in line with quotations and forward them to the accounting department with relevant back-up documentation to expedite payment.Candidate ProfileQualifications, Skills & ExperienceFluent in English, French and/or Dutch.Strong understanding of MICE environment & tools (Cvent, MICE VIEW, Opera S&C,…Internationally experiencedAffinity with a more refined lifestyle/luxury hotelsManagement skills in leading a teamCandidate profileEducation and ExperienceA strong leader with at least 4 years of experience in an international environment, holding a similar role in a comparable property with substantial rooms and meeting spaces.
