The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is seeking a Group Leader to lead a new research group.ICIQ is one of the world’s internationally recognized leading institutions in the field of chemistry, and it is committed to solving significant social and economic challenges by conducting top-quality research in three main areas: Sustainable catalysis, renewable energy, and health. The institute also aims to train future scientists by offering high-quality educational programs to master, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers (complete details on ).Tasks and Responsibilities:The Group leader must independently coordinate the scientific program of the research group. Lead and drive the preparation and submission of scientific proposals. Supervise PhD Thesis and Postdoctoral researchers. The group leader has the responsibility to commit himself/herself to the ethical guidelines of the Institution, collaborate with the ICIQ Direction and other ICIQ staff, and report when requested to the Scientific Advisory Board.Candidate’s Profile:We are looking for talented and innovative young scientists who are firmly committed to high-quality frontier research and able to add new insights to the existing ICIQ core expertise. Only candidates awarded a Ramon y Cajal Fellowship with an outstanding record of research achievements and publications, proven success in obtaining competitive funding and high-impact publications in top-quality journals will be considered. Experience managing European research projects is mandatory. The research topic of interest for this funded position must focus on nanostructured photocatalytic systems and light-driven micro/nanomotors that could efficiently convert biowaste and CO2 into high-value chemicals and fuels. Both approaches align with the ICIQ’s sustainable development goals, including clean energy generation and water decontamination.Application documents:Applicants are requested to submit:

  • A permanent full-time employment contract (to be evaluated every 3 years by the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) and, if the evaluation by the SAB is negative, it will result in the termination of the permanent contract).
  • Annual salary split into twelve monthly payments.
