Job description
The roleJoin our Graphics Research group and contribute to their mission of developing new algorithms and techniques that give our graphics processor designs (IP), for rasterisation and ray tracing, a leading edge and keep our customers competitive.You will explore, adapt, and refine our graphics processor architectures, as well as find unique and high impact improvements that increase performance whilst reducing power and area usage.You will:
- Refine, research, and develop state of the art techniques to help make our next generations of graphics systems more efficient, powerful and/or feature rich e.g. reducing bandwidth, looking at coherency of rays, improving calculations for shaders
- Analyse performance of different approaches
- Assist in creating specifications for graphics systems
- Work in a friendly and enthusiastic engineering team

- Interest or knowledge of 3D graphics techniques e.g. rendering, shaders, textures
- Interest or knowledge of processor architecture e.g. memory management, caching, multi-threading
- Interest or knowledge of some data compression techniques
- Strong C/C++ programming skills
- Good maths skills
- A willingness to learn and discover
You might also have:
- A first or upper second B.Sc. or B.Eng (or higher).
- Some knowledge of computer hardware/circuits
- Some understanding of Performance/Power and Performance/Area trade-offs.
