Graduate Teaching Assistant Position – Pathway to Teacher TrainingLocation: Salisbury
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: £20,000 to £24,000

This role is ideal for those who are ready to take the first step in their teaching career and want a structured, supported pathway to achieving Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).About the RoleThis unique two-year program is designed to equip you with the skills, confidence, and experience needed to thrive in the classroom.Year 1: Graduate Teaching Assistant
You will spend your first year immersed in the classroom, working closely with experienced teachers to support students in their learning. Key tasks will include:

  • Assisting with lesson preparation and delivery.
  • Providing one-to-one or small group support to students.
  • Helping to manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Assisting with marking and assessment under the guidance of teachers.
  • Supporting extracurricular activities, school events, and wider school life.

Year 2: Salaried Teacher Training Program
During your second year, you will transition onto a salaried teacher training route, where you will work towards gaining QTS. This includes:

  • Comprehensive teacher training tailored to your needs.
  • Weekly mentorship sessions with experienced educators.
  • Classroom responsibility, including planning and delivering lessons.
  • Gaining practical skills to meet teaching standards and thrive in your career.

What We’re Looking ForTo join this exciting program, you will need:

  • A bachelor’s degree in any subject.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at grade C/4 or above.
  • A passion for working with children and young people.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
