The team you will be a part of

The Legal General team performs a variety of legal activities in accordance with the established standards of the legal profession to protect the organization’s reputation and business interests and help ensure it complies with all relevant laws and regulations. Prepares legal contracts, letters of agreement, and other documents related to a variety of trade, commercial, financial, and operational matters (e.g., loans, leases, purchase agreements, acquisitions, divestitures, employment contracts). Represents the organization in legal proceedings before courts, government agencies, or other authorities.

This role in summary

The Global Privacy Manager is responsible for: (1) driving “privacy by design” (2) providing global governance for key Privacy platforms. This role will report to the Whirlpool Global Data Protection Officer

This position will play a critical role in strategic platform launches tied to Whirlpool’s Global Business Strategic Imperatives.

A key element of this position will be seamlessly coordinating between the Global Privacy Program in the Legal Organization and project teams in IT and Business.

Your responsibilities will include

• Ensure compliance with Data Privacy Laws

• Ensure technical privacy requirements

• Develop and maintain Data Privacy Policies and Procedures

• Conduct Training and awareness programmes

• Manage Data Privacy Risks and third-party relations

• Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams

• Monitor and report on Data Privacy metrics

• Provide embedded privacy support for Global Value Streams and associated platform launches to ensure that “privacy by design” and regulatory requirements are considered from the outset for IT strategic initiatives. In doing so, you will coordinate with Regional DPOs in the Global Privacy Program to ensure local compliance requirements are clearly understood and communicated.

• You will:

• Embed with global Digital Center of Excellence (DCOE)

• Embed with global IOT team

• Work closely with IT Global Value Streams teams to ensure Privacy integration into applicable projects and initiatives

• Drive global governance and rationalization for key IT-managed privacy platforms

• Provide global governance for the following portfolio of Privacy platforms: (1) Cookie Consent, (2) DSAR, (3) Consent Management, (4) personal data breach processes

• Streamline operations and processes for the above platforms, with a bias towards global standardization

• Develop and support execution of strategy for streamlining and rationalizing Privacy platforms globally

Required / Preferred skills and experiences

• Bachelor’s degree

• 5 years experience in Privacy

• Dealing with data protection and privacy issues for a multinational organization

• Deep understanding of GDPR and European Union privacy frameworks; knowledge of other global privacy regulations (e.g., CCPA, PDPA, PDPO, etc.) is appreciated but not mandatory

• Deep experience in driving Privacy by Design and operational implementation of privacy processes within the business

• Familiarity with modern digital marketing systems & tech stacks along with associated privacy implications

• International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), particularly CIPP/E and CIPM or equivalent

• Passion for data privacy and respect for the individual.

• Form complex communications / messages in a simple, clear and concise manner to the various communities within our organization. This can include different cultures, nationalities, international locations and languages

• Establish positive working relationships and garner influence with other functions

• Own and solve difficult challenges and ability to motivate others to higher levels of performance and engagement

• Desire and aptitude for continuous learning and keeping abreast of new and emerging privacy practices and impacting technologies

• Success stories guiding projects and advancing organizational privacy goals
