The company was founded on May 29, 1933 and is headquartered in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.Job SummaryWe are seeking a Sr. Operations Engineer who has a strong chemicals background to join East Hub Division of the LTC Business & Project Development Department to perform optimization of the existing refinery and chemicals sites integration; evaluation and selection of licensors for refinery upgrader complex, pure gas Ethane Cracker, Mixed Feed Steam Cracker, C4+ co-products and pygas based Aromatics Complex while ensuring safety and environmental compliance. Sr. Operations Engineer will be part of the Project Development & Technology team reporting to the Manager and work closely with other refinery and chemical engineers. The candidate will ensure implementation of work in accordance with the project scope, set plans, and handle contingencies that arise during execution.Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and screen a range of technology options to determine the most suitable for the Baseline Configuration.
  • Align the level of detail and sources of technology input needed for LP evaluation, opex analysis, and major considerations in defining the facilities scope.
  • Review the details and inputs of technology options and analyze the outputs from the LP model, including process yields, qualities, and opex.
  • Define the Process technology road map and establish a timeline for engaging with technology licensors/providers.
  • Outline Pre-FEED/FEED plans and deliverables related to the facility design basis.
  • Lead the evaluation and screening process of technology options, considering technical feasibility, economic viability, and other relevant factors.
  • Provide technical inputs on the selected technologies and conduct sensitivity analyses.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration with third-party vendors/suppliers.
  • Liaise with third-party vendors/suppliers to gather necessary information and assess their capabilities.
  • Collaborate with licensors to develop and analyze commissioning, pre-start-up, and start-up activities and sequencing for the refinery and chemicals complex.
  • Participate in hazard studies and analyses, such as HAZOP, to ensure safety and mitigate risks.
  • Support the Government Engagement workstream and GHG Abatement Readiness workstream by contributing to the development of technical documents, technology assessment, and capital efficiency considerations.

Requirements:

  • This role required candidate to permanently relocate at Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
  • Hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from a recognized and approved program.
  • Possess a minimum of 15+ years of experience in the Refining & Chemicals business, with a focus on integration.
  • Demonstrate previous experience in Project Engineering, Design, and Execution for refinery and chemicals plants.
  • Have expertise in Refinery-Chemicals integration management.
  • Possess experience and familiarity with refinery operations and residue upgraders.
  • Have knowledge and experience in the selection and analysis of process licensors for Ethane, Mixed Feed Steam Cracker, derivatives, and aromatics.
  • Understand chemical process yields and qualities.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of economics and capital efficiency in the Refining & Chemicals industry.
  • Have experience in the development of chemicals facility scope basis.
  • Demonstrate expertise in the development of refinery or chemicals capital projects, particularly in the Pre-FEED/FEED stage.
  • Understand molecule optimization and synergy integration in the Refining & Chemicals sector.
