What you’ll do
As Global Head of Payroll (f/m/d), you will lead SAP’s internal payroll service delivery team of approximately 120 payroll professionals in support of paying 115,000+ SAP employees in 70+ countries, paying out EUR16 billion in compensation, social insurance, and taxes annually via a hybrid of in-house and outsourced practices. Payroll touches every SAP employee every pay period and is a mission critical service with extremely high expectations for timeliness, accuracy, and compliance.
Reporting directly to the Head of Global People and Culture Service Delivery (Human Resources Global Service Delivery), you will be responsible for ensuring sustainable daily payroll operations, people management, and compliance as well as strategic planning, including transformation of the current payroll environment in a long-term move to Cloud solutions in alignment with SAP/SuccessFactors Product Management, and the HR IT team.
Purpose and Objectives
In this pivotal role, you will be leading a global team that is responsible for creating and implementing effective solutioning processes, problem solving, escalation management, and stakeholder relationships. This
requires working with global programs and policies while ensuring compliance with country-specific legal requirements. You will also have the opportunity to meet with SAP prospects, customers, and partners to share the “SAP Runs SAP” story for payroll and work with SAP HCM Product managers to contribute in shaping future solutions.
What you bring
The Global Head of Payroll (f/m/d) should possess leadership skills to effectively manage a team of seasoned SAP individuals, support performance and career development topics, align with peer leaders in Global People and Culture Service Delivery to collaborate on delivery strategy and execution.
Management Tasks
-Owning the global and country operating models and business requirements for technical solutions, including prioritization and justification of automation/AI needs.
-Support escalation management for employees who have payroll issues (or think that they have issues) in a rapid response, post mortem of the issue (cause), interim and long term solutions, and updates to management/key stakeholders.
-Close collaboration with internal IT on technical resource needs and quality of support.
-Support and provide guidance for the Global Payroll extended management team, ensuring payroll topic ownership is driven appropriately to ensure continuous improvement of processes.
-Setting clear objectives for the team, monitoring their progress, and providing guidance for success.
-Building a network within SAP to be leveraged for team and customer success.
-Communicate the results and successes of activities across Global Payroll where baseline expectations are for absolute accuracy for every employee every pay period.

-Champion and ensure a long-term vision of the future of payroll within People Agenda and People and Culture Services Strategy

-Own and execute Payroll strategy, related IT elements and foster execution across payroll and manage stakeholder with very effective collaboration and team play.
-Demonstrate leadership to set SMART goals, help team members in achieving them, grow their talents, continuously improve and reach new levels of performance and achievement.

Education and Qualifications / Skills and Competencies

-Thorough understanding of end-to-end payroll processes along the employee life cycle
-Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and the ability to collaborate effectively with senior, middle, and operational management
-Ability to think creatively and ensure the best results and build a strong network
-Bachelors degree, with master’s degree or additional education preferred.
