Full-Time Lower School Counsellor – to cover a maternity and parental leaveThe Lower School is currently looking for the key role of a Full-Time Lower School Counsellor with responsibilities for Grade 3-5 to start on November 1, 2024. As this is a temporary position we can only accept applications from local residents.Position Summary:The Lower School Counselor is crucial to fostering the holistic well-being of the Lower School community, with an emphasis on social-emotional development and academic success among Lower School students and families. They collaborate closely with teaching and administrative teams, providing guidance and support, as well as teaching parts of the PSHE curriculum. Through individual or small group counselling sessions, they assist students, parents, faculty, and staff in navigating challenges and building resilience. Additionally, the counsellor ensures smooth transitions in the lower school and leads the school with class placements and new student intakes. The school counsellor also plays a key role in supporting safeguarding in the school.

Selection criteria – Qualifications and ExperienceEssential qualifications/experience:● Masters level training in counselling, preferably school counselling● Counselling experience in a Lower School● Teaching experience, preferably in a diverse settings● Strong technology skills● Effective English oral and written communication and interpersonal skills● A commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of childrenDesirable qualifications/experience:● Teaching credentials preferred*** Prior to continuing with your application, please make sure that you have the following documents ready to upload: CV, cover letter, reference letter(s), teaching certification (if available), and teaching philosophy (a brief, one page statement as to why you do what you do as an educator; what you believe is important as an educator).
