This is an exciting time to be working in the environment sector and Cornwall Council is
helping to lead the way locally and nationally. Cornwall Council’s Forest for Cornwall Team is
leading on the delivery of an ambitious flagship programme aimed at delivering 8000 hectares of
new canopy cover across the county by 2030. This forms part of our local response to the
current climate and ecological emergencies and delivers against our strategic priorities as set
out in the Council’s Carbon Neutral Action Plan and emerging Local Nature Recovery Strategy.

Cornwall has some of the lowest tree canopy cover in the UK and we are looking for dynamic and
experienced project officers who are passionate about trees and woodlands to join our dedicated
team responsible for the development and delivery of the Forest for Cornwall Programme.
Encouraging and engaging landholders, businesses, communities and local residents in tree
planting activities including creating large woodlands, community orchards, mini forests and
urban trees.

The ideal candidates will have excellent project management and organisational skills, and the
ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people and organisations.

We are seeking candidates to fill 2 project officer roles. One to work primarily with farmers
and landholders across Cornwall, seeking out and advising on opportunities for creating new
woodland and integrating trees into the farmed landscape and another officer to work with
communities and volunteers, engaging local people to get involved and excited about planting
and caring for trees in their local environment.

The roles are fixed terms contracts until March 2026 with the potential for extension,
depending on funding availability.

This position will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
