Forbes Best-in-State EmployerForensic Accounting Analyst – Business Interruption Loss AdjusterSedgwick’s Financial Lines – Forensic Advisory Services (FAS) Department is dedicated to the preparation of economic-financial expert reports, mainly for clients in the insurance sector (insurance companies) and law firms, in which the financial losses suffered by an insured company as a consequence of an event/incident are determined (loss of profits).Under the direction of the manager of the department, the successful candidate will participate in the analysis and calculation of such losses, as well as in the drafting and correct documentation of the resulting expert reports. The main functions of the position are as follows:

  • Analysis of legal, economic, accounting and financial documentation of the companies that suffer the loss, such as contracts, annual accounts, management accounts, budgets, supporting documentation, etc.
  • Direct dialogue with clients (Insurers), with companies that suffer the loss (Insureds) and any other related parties (insurance brokers, law firms, other experts, etc.), to obtain the necessary documentation to execute the work and the clarifications and explanations needed.
  • Preparation of calculations and financial models that lead to rigorous and well-documented conclusions on the loss of profit effectively suffered as a result of the loss, as well as the preparation of tables, graphs, etc. that compile and present them with solidity and clarity.
  • In collaboration with the experts in the technical areas (engineers, architects, lawyers, environmentalists, etc.), drafting of our expert reports, explaining the analyses carried out during our work and the conclusions reached.
  • Participation in domestic claims but also in international projects: claims occurring outside Spain, claims occurring in Spain but that need to be reported to an international client, international projects of the Sedgwick group (fraud, cyber, etc.).
  • Any other tasks related to the role that may be assigned in the projects developed by the department.

Ideal ProfileIn order to successfully perform the above functions, the requirements we are looking for in our candidates are as follows:

  • Graduate in Business Administration, Economics or similar field, with a good academic record, especially in the subjects Accounting, Financial Statements Analysis, Business Economics, Statistics, etc.
  • 2-3 years of experience in external Audit, Forensics, Transaction Services or similar firms/departments. Alternatively, we would also consider candidates coming from the Internal Audit department of a company in the industrial, construction or energy sectors, or from an accounting or controlling position in these companies.
  • High level of Spanish and English, spoken and written (documentation, communications and reporting will happen in these two languages). Other languages would be a plus.
  • Proficiency in the Office package (Excel, Word, Powerpoint).
  • A combination of excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with an impeccable written competence: the candidate must have a well-established background in accounting and financial analysis and a strong appetite for numbers, while being able to express him/herself in writing in an orderly, clear and precise manner.
  • Previous experience in the insurance sector or in drafting expert reports is not necessary, but an interest in the sector (insurance lines of business, policy wordings, coverage, etc.) is necessary (we work for the insurance sector). The candidate must be interested in working on a project basis with different clients and colleagues, and willing to analyze companies in different sectors of activity.
  • Additionally, the ideal candidate must be an organized and hard-working person, with an eye for the detail and great capacity for analysis and synthesis of extensive and diverse documentation (both qualitatively and quantitatively speaking). He/she must be able to simultaneously perform and prioritize tasks and show a strong commitment to our projects and to our clients’ needs.
