Summary Who May Apply? US Citizens currently residing within the commuting area of CHIEVRES Air Base, Belgium (not ordinarily resident in Belgium). US resident alien family members of US sponsors who are citizens of NATO countries other than Belgium. Non-US Nationals must have resided in the US or U.S. Territory for three (3) or more continuous years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation. This position is located at the USAG Benelux, DFMWR, Chievres Army Lodge, Chievres AB, Belgium. Responsibilities Sets up cafeteria lines, steamtables, dining room tables, and side service stands with hot and cold food items; replenishes as necessary. Serves food by order and proper proportion. Break down and clean tables and area when meal is finished and returns dishes and food to kitchen area. Operates, breaks down, and cleans all equipment assigned to the area for food preparation. Stores cleaned dishes, glasses and silverware. Sweeps and mops kitchen floors. May unload and store food from delivery truck. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Ability to understand and follow simple instructions. Ability to use hand tools for cleaning and operating simple machines. Skill and Knowledge Must have skill and knowledge to perform tasks involving several procedures and be able to concentrate on work assignments despite interruptions and distractions. A working knowledge of sanitation standards is required as well as knowledge of procedures to prevent contamination. Must have knowledge of basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and decimals, such as counting number of tables to determine the number of portions or meals required. Responsibility Incumbent is expected to complete assignments as scheduled. Judgement is required in maintaining standards of sanitation, safety, and service. Responsible to identify and report obvious hazards, malfunctioning equipment, and any other situations that may impact work operations. Working Conditions Work is usually performed indoors in areas that have adequate light and ventilation. Exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, and hot working surfaces. May be exposed to extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigerators or freezing units. There is a danger from falling from a ladder or slipping on a floor where food or beverages have been spilled. FWS Allowances and Differentials All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee. Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee’s regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee’s regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800. PCS Costs Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government’s interest. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Foreign Overseas Allowances Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) will not be paid for this position.
