ING is looking for a Financial Risk Specialist in the credit risk team of Risk Management Commodities Food and Agri (RM CF&A).The teamThe team of RM CF&A is part of the Wholesale Banking Credit Risk Management department and is based in Amsterdam. The department covers all the wholesale banking sectors and comprises approximately 30+ people. You will report to the Head of Risk Commodities Food & Agri.The Credit Risk teams are engaged in many strategic projects covering sector analysis, risk reporting, sustainability, energy transition, and many other related initiatives covering the wider credit strategy of ING. The Financial Risk Specialist in such team will work with the Front Office (FO) in the day to day risk management, formulating credit policy and articulating risk appetite on a per transaction and portfolio basis. The Financial Risk Specialist is acting as an advisor to Senior Management and Mandate Holders, on individual transactions and while participating in projects and other initiatives.The team of RM CF&A is part of Wholesale Banking Credit Risk Management. The department is globally responsible for the transaction approval process and portfolio risk management of Wholesale bank portfolio’s.The team currently consist of 9 people (including this vacancy) and is divided into 3 clusters: Energy, Metals, and Softs, Food & Agri. These cluster cover all types of transactions for these (sub)sectors, ranging from corporate debt to highly structured or leveraged transactions and anything in between. These clusters are each a global business for ING, and coverage from the risk side is global.Role and responsibilitiesRepresenting risk management in credit decisions/discussions and acting as proxy for the credit process;Closely monitoring the portfolio in your focus sectors/areas and proposing corrective actions and improvements to senior management;Recommending or deciding on credit applications for new transactions, modifications and reviews;Ensuring the quality and consistency of the credit application and that the transaction meets the conditions of approval as set out in the credit process;Acting as a back-up for other portfolios within the Risk Management department;Working closely and communicating directly with front office peers and relevant support departments;Participating in projects and actively providing input for/developing relevant risk policies and reports;Assist the team and the department in the transition to a more data led portfolio analysis and management approach;Working with team members, challenge them and be challenged;Actively providing input and/or developing relevant credit risk policies and reports;Developing and maintaining relationships with (senior) management and other relevant internal and/or external stakeholders;How to succeedWe hire smart people like you for your potential. The candidate has strong social skills and understands the importance of internal governance and stakeholder management. Particular knowledge of the CF&A sector is a pre.You fulfill the following profile:Experience in originating, executing and documenting transactions with proven track record;Excellent credit analysis skills. Knowledge of relevant credit risk management processes, systems and concepts;Proven credit risk awareness, and ability to balance risk versus return;Profound interest in (geo)political developments, macro-economic trends, and drivers of commodities and markets;An academic background, preferably in Finance, Economy or Law;Skills to act as sparring partner to Front Office, with an eye for strategy and organizational sensitivity;An independent thinker with ability to take bold decisions if required;Willingness to travel;Excellent communication skills, and fluent in English.Rewards and benefitsWe want to make sure that it’s possible for you to strike the right balance between your career and your private life.
